Horseback Riding in Vermont! See the Foliage from a Different Perspective? Head Over to Vermont's Riding Stables!

I've been riding each foliage season in Vermont at various stables and can't wait for my next two riding adventures this autumn. There's nothing like the blissful feeling of galloping down a country road with the wind in your face surrounded by sparkling foliage or taking a trail ride through fields and pastures and dirt roads canopied by autumn colors. You can find rides for all different skill levels and capture autumn's blaze from a different view than that of hiking, mountain lift rides or from meandering the back roads in your car. For me, being on horseback is the ultimate way to enjoy my Vermont foliage vacation because I am immersed in nature at the same time. I love the smells, sounds and visuals from the forest and being part of the natural world in the middle of the Green Mountains is the best!
Last fall I rode at Kimberly Farms in North Bennington, and it was a lovely ride into the mountains. I was fortunate enough to have a solo ride and the day was glorious. I took a lesson at Rhythm Hollow Stables in North Bennington to learn to transition from Western to English. My teacher Tara was exceptional! She was so patient with me, I was having a difficult time and we had quite a few laughs! My horse was HUGE! I think I am going to stick with Western for a bit longer...........

I've ridden the Icelandic horses several times in Fayston and it was the ultimate ride. Be sure to check your riding skill levels with the owners. They really fit you perfectly with your horse and the half day trek was enough for me. Icelandics have a five gait and it took me awhile to get used to it! Icelandics are an amazing breed!

This fall I am going to ride at LaJoie Stables in Jeffersonville (when I am in Stowe) and DnD Stables in East Burke (when I am in the NEK). I'm very excited to try these two stables!
