I did a morning drive with my son today to North Central Massachusetts. We traveled on I91 to Route 9 West, Route 116, Route 112, Route 2, Route 112 into Vermont, North River Road along the Green River and back to I-91 in Greenfield. The foliage was well past peak on Route 9 around the Cummington area, with the trees about 75% bare. Route 112 and Route 116 before Route 2 was also past peak. The best foliage to be found was on Route 112 close to the VT/MA line. We took Route 5 South from Greenfield to Northampton with the foliage looking kind of drab and beat up.

After MT Greylock (definitely too early for the view), we drove the Mohawk and we saw nice color between North Adams and Florida.
Then, after the (beautiful) bridges of Flowers we also drove 112 and 9 to Northampton.
To my untrained eyes Rout 112 was actually beautiful!

loafer and triz: route 112 into VT from 2 is my favorite way to get into Vermont. Such a lovely countryside with nice color along the road with a great bunch of farms and farm stands. Every time I think I am going to take a different route into Vermont, I always end up on 112 and never regret my choice. Northampton, blah, no color today.

triz: glad you got to the Bridge of Flowers! What a gem! :D
