I would stick to higher terrain. Did you read the State Foliage report? If you get to Rutand, go east towards Woodstock and Quechee, You will go through the Killington area which is higher altitude. Much of the state is still green. so head north. I was at the top of the Sugarbush ski area yesterday, (Warren, Waitsfield area) and it was still too early for much color.

Four years ago, you would have timed it perfectly, but the Vermont Falls are later these days--I would try Killington and the Northeast Kingdom up thru Rt 114 from Lyndonville thru Island pond into Pittsburg NH(where its 34 degrees right now)

I drove the roads in northeastern VT last Thursday and there was little color on the main roads like 114, US 5 and 105. But the 2 back roads I took as shortcuts had color from the trees next to the road. The South Wheelock/Stannard Mountain road between Lyndonville and Greensboro Bend had brilliant color on the top. I would try to find some back roads up in the highlands of route 100.

Thanks! The best color we saw today was going across Victory Rd. The sun came out as we were crossing the mountain.

So I guess we should head further north? We do have our passports.

Driving to Canada was mostly a bust. We’re settling down in Hyde Park this evening.

Unfortunately, the color is really going to need about week to really come out in most places. It is getting a little better every day here in the NEK, but I don't think it will be peak in most places this weekend.
