Re: The Color is here!
One thing to note in the Peacham images: There are a LOT of bare trees. I suspect these are the Maples and it sounds like that is going to be the rule around Northern Vermont this year. That will make colors more orange and yellow and some would say "dull." From the looks of the Killington shots, it is not so much of a phenomena there

If it sounds too good to be true, its probably . . . .

I was really encouraged by what I saw today. I think the next week or even two could turn into a pretty decent season. Just a quick pic from Rt 11 just passed Bromley Ski resort.

Andy :
An earlier post here rated the NEK as a 10 last year vs. a 0 this year, at least as far as what was around earlier this week. Dull colors, early leaf drop, dull brick reds, bare trees, thats what I saw on Monday and Tuesday in the NEK before I cancelled the rest of my hotel reservation and retreated home to Massachusetts to wait and see what may happen. I would agree with scurtis that the NEK was a 0 on Monday and Tuesday. I'm a photographer, and have been doing Fall in New England for over 20 years, so at this point in my life I'm looking for 7's to 10's, thats why I bailed out earlier this week.
In this post and few others there are now some hints that the tide may be turning a little. Does that mean Central VT is just late and not having the severe Dull/Drop/Bare Tree malaise the NEK suffered from earlier? Or is what you saw in Peacham really a 3 or a 4 that's only better relative to the NEK at 0? (you do hint at bare trees). Or do you think what you are seeing at least maybe gets us to an average year (albeit late) the further south you go? I'm coming at it from a different perspective than most tourists, and admit I'm pickier. I appreciate the willingness to share information on this forum, the people regularly posting here are probably the most informed and helpful source of information out there.
Thanks for the information updates.

I have not been further north than Littleton NH yet, but I think the central and southern parts of the state (VT) have a good chance of being decent, but late. Not the "rockstar" years of 2015-16...,,,, We have been spoiled of late.

Thanks for the reports everyone. Sounds like we will to be able to salvage an okay year in areas that were green before the crazy temperature swings.
