Andy :
An earlier post here rated the NEK as a 10 last year vs. a 0 this year, at least as far as what was around earlier this week. Dull colors, early leaf drop, dull brick reds, bare trees, thats what I saw on Monday and Tuesday in the NEK before I cancelled the rest of my hotel reservation and retreated home to Massachusetts to wait and see what may happen. I would agree with scurtis that the NEK was a 0 on Monday and Tuesday. I'm a photographer, and have been doing Fall in New England for over 20 years, so at this point in my life I'm looking for 7's to 10's, thats why I bailed out earlier this week.
In this post and few others there are now some hints that the tide may be turning a little. Does that mean Central VT is just late and not having the severe Dull/Drop/Bare Tree malaise the NEK suffered from earlier? Or is what you saw in Peacham really a 3 or a 4 that's only better relative to the NEK at 0? (you do hint at bare trees). Or do you think what you are seeing at least maybe gets us to an average year (albeit late) the further south you go? I'm coming at it from a different perspective than most tourists, and admit I'm pickier. I appreciate the willingness to share information on this forum, the people regularly posting here are probably the most informed and helpful source of information out there.
Thanks for the information updates.
