Ed: Tim (our SOV board owner) is joining Phil and I at Lewis Pond so you might get to meet both of our key players in the VT foliage forum! Tim is bringing his drone, so that should be a new experience for me.

Don't worry about the part from Lewis Pond to the Overlook. You should be fine. Worst case scenario, you can walk! I hope you come back for an early morning shoot to confirm for yourself, Charles' amazing scenes he got before sunrise. As for me, I would never make it there that early! I barely get out of my inn at 9:30, it is a struggle. I get up early, just am a very slow mover. So afternoon works for me. Hope to meet you and if not, I can't wait to see what you come up with this foliage season on your site. You can also put your photos here which thrills the masses! :)

Ed, your work is top notch. Really good stuff. Another lover of symmetric reflection shots I see, a major weakness of mine.

Sadly I haven't been on a fall shoot since the NEK in 2012 when I did indeed stay overnight at the rest area at Lewis Pond. I drove a Subaru but I think any normal car can handle it fine.

Hope the shooting goes well for you!

BTW it isn't always obvious but the overlook is quite far from Lewis Pond itself, especially by car (have to take winding roads between them).

Thanks to everyone for your kind comments about the images on my website. My New England autumn gallery mostly has NH, ME and MA images, but as I said, for the next 2 or 3 seasons I want to concentrate on Vermont and build up my collection from there.

PWT and Ctyanky, what time do you folks plan to be at the Lewis overlook on 10/3? I would plan to get there by 3:00pm and stay as late as practical.

Hi Ed! I think around 2ish? We are leaving Waitsfield around 9:30 and it takes 2 hours Phil said. Plus, I am taking him to lunch, he gets fidgety around noon and leaves are not his priority at that time! :P So I am guessing that we will eat up in the NEK and then meet Tim at the ranger station around 1. Then head into Stone Dam Road and up to the Overlook. I am sure Tim will want to take some photos and that would put us there about 2. We are also going to Moose Bog after so I would say we would leave the pullout at the Overlook at 3:30. Long ride home...............

It looks like an brilliant day to be out at the Overlook, I can't wait! I truly hope we get to meet you as it is always fun to see who the forum posters are face to face! What time do you expect to leave MA or are you going to be up in VT already???? CT

ctyanky - I am leaving from Mass to go to Vermont on 10/2. I'll plan to be at Lewis Pond Overlook by 2:30 pm on 10/3 to make sure i meet you folks.

It's nice and cool and crisp here this morning in Mass, its wonderful to feel like fall has finally arrived. Lets hope the weather and foliage gods conspire to make things pop over the next 4 to 5 days.

Excellent Ed! See you there! Going to be wonderful and am looking forward to the meetup. If you are interested in a hike up Owls Head or Nichols Ledge Thursday, let me know. Would be happy to help with the camera equipment. :D CT

Ed: I'm planning on going to the Peacham Fall Festival Thursday morning but could meet you in Cabot at the trailhead if you are around there. We can think about it at Lewis Pond. I'm riding in Fayston Wednesday a.m. and am toast after I get off the horse after a few hours so will not be able to hike that day obviously. Monday I'm spending the day with Minnesotaman. Friday I leave for another destination for the long Columbus Day Weekend.

I've been to Owl's Head and it is amazing at the top and an easy hike in. I hope you get to Owl's Head if you have not yet been. See you Tuesday :!: :D
