Columbus Day Drive Suggestions?

I was ready to write off this year as being a terrible one given the extreme drought we have experienced in Eastern Massachusetts. Seeing photos and reports here has made me realize that was a huge mistake and am now planning a day trip for tomorrow.

Would greatly appreciate any advice on spots at peak for a drive tomorrow - especially ponds. And if I can somehow avoid traffic...all the better
