Nichols Ledge
Can someone address the question of when--within a range of 4 or 5 days-- Nichols Ledge is typically in best form?
Re: Nichols Ledge
Minn: If KCFlanders from Florida doesn't see this post and reply just PM him. He's been up twice I think and has some amazing pictures of the overlook and comments on the trail. I was supposed to go last year with another forum member from Chester but it was pouring out and it was cancelled. Bummer! I wish I had time to meet you there and hike up but the schedule is solidly booked. I still hope to have dinner with you in Woodstock this weekend with bm. I'll be in touch! Let me know which day you are hiking Nichols Ledge. If it is this weekend, maybe I can convince bm to skip an event and we'll go! It's in Cabot, correct?
Re: Nichols Ledge
Time and conditions permitting, I plan to check out this location while in VT between 9/30 and 10/5.

Re: Nichols Ledge
I've only been there once. Last year the color was so late I had to leave before it really turned nice. I'm going to try again this year, probably on the 8th; but that may change. From the posts I've seen so far it sounds like peak won't be running as late as last year. I sure hope not.
I posted some photos from 2014 which we took on Oct 2nd. The time and date stamps on all of my photos on google maps are accurate.

KC: how was Nichols Ledge! I would love to know how the foliage was at the top! You are the only one I know hiking up there this season!
Re: Nichols Ledge
I went up to Nichols Ledge when I was in VT--Oct. 3, I think. Color was a bit pre-peak at that point; good--plenty of reds--but still a decent amount of green. I would imagine the area around Nichols Pond is at peak by now. It's quite a view from up there; one of the most attractive overlooks I've visited on this trip (and I've been to a bunch).
