Thru Sept 24th, Vermont is having, and is expected to have another warm September like last year, as per weather.com statistics and forecast--last year, as everyone knows, we had a later than normal Fall, especially the NEK, and perhaps the same thing this Fall--Thx to Global Warming, this may now be the norm rather than the exception for the future--This past summer across most of the United States, it was the hottest summer in 121 years--Charleston SC boiled with heat index temps frequently at 106 degrees from July 1st thru Aug 21st--Here in Jupiter Fla, also our hottest summer ever with heat index'es frequently at 101 degrees(yes Charleston SC is even hotter than South Florida)--oh, to be in Vermont those months instead!

Weather.com, others still not showing any below average cold air to hit Vermont in September, and the only normal low temperature will be the 15th for the entire month(as per Rutland Monthly outlook) at 44 degrees--Every morning will be above normal, there won't even be any morning lows in the 40's save for the 15th, all 50's--looks like Oct 2nd for maybe first nice cold night in the 30's, better late than never

Isolated cold spots in the NEK may have a frost tomorrow morning.
There are a lot of areas of trees that are starting to hint at the colors behind the green. Things look to be right on schedule here so far.

With the transition from El Nino to La Nina, temperatures in the Northeast are forecasted to be above normal through November. This was forecasted already last spring, when El Nino ended. We had a warm fall last year and it turned out to be a very good foliage season with extended fall color well into October. The drought is more of a concern with stressed trees and early leaf drop in parts on New England.

We here in the west can certainly confirm an exceptionally hot dry summer. With 18 days in triple digits ( the record is 20) and our first real rain two nights ago. The season started early here the first of Sept. and I have been pleasantly surprized given the conditions. The mid elevation reds start first and then the higher elevation yellows of the aspens. Several trips up our local canyons the past week have got me excited for our trip. Hoping things will be fantastic! The view tonight of the Wasatch from my home.

It looks like a major cool-down is in the forecast for New England. I just saw forecasts of low 60''s for St Johnsbury next week, which is below normal. It looks like frost/freeze temperatures may be possible as well.
