Out on a limb prediction - late areas may be the jackpot this year

The models are showing the first real, long-duration cold weather starting late next week and going on for several days. I think this has a good chance to kick the current mostly-green areas into high gear and result in some very good color for the late areas (SW, SE, Champlain Valley) that often get ignored in favor of the hotspots (higher elevations, Stowe, NEK, etc.) because they change when most people think the season is over.

Time will tell..

I think a good late season foliage spot for lovers of Oak Tree foliage color will be Route 30 in Southern Vermont. This are will probably peak during the week of October 19th.
