Bristol-Brandon Gap-Killington-Waitsfield-App Gap-Bristol Loop 10/2/15

Started out this morning and took Route 116 south to East Middlebury, then Lower Plains Road to Beaver Brook Road to Upper Plains Road to Route 153 at Lake Dunmore. Took 153 south to Forestdale (village in the Town of Brandon) and headed east on Route 73 into Brandon Gap. Colors along 116/153 are still really, really early. Some stressed trees turning here and there but overall green.
Took 73 east over the Brandon Gap to Rochester. Color really picked up on the east side of Brandon Gap down to Route 100. Color is still early but further along than on the west side of the gap.
Took 100 south to Killington. Still fairly early color with some pockets of color here and there. I'd say its halfway there....the next 7-10 days should be great.
After Killington took 100 north to Waitsfield. The best color of the day was along Route 100 between Hancock and Granville. CTyanky was in heaven. Color was nice up through Granville Gulf though ct was too busy looking for moose then looking for color.
After dropping ct back at the inn I headed west on Route 17 over the App Gap back to Bristol. Color is still on the early side. Again...I think anyone coming next week and Colombus Day Weekend should have a good show.
Got to see ctyanky, mmvt, autzig, pwt, abby, & andy today. Was great seeing everyone! Too bad the color wasn't better....but it was still fun!

Today, I took 100 up from Killington to Waitsfield and there was lots of nice color along the way. Probably 60% turned or so. Tried Bragg Hill Rd and Common Rd in Waitsfield, but both were still pretty green. Not much color to be seen from the Sugarbush resort, either, too early still. Roxbury Mountain Rd had some really nice color. There was some color along the Lincoln Gap Road, which I took going east to west. Looped back to 100 via Rt. 17 and most of the trees were brown. It has been dry here and I've been seeing this a lot this fall. Trees just turning brown and not turning color. Montpelier was terrible, same issue, mostly brown leaves. Woodstock, too. I thought Killington looked pretty good, though. There was some nice color and still some green to turn yet. Kent Pond and Colton Pond are coming along nicely. Not a lot of color in Quechee yet. The gorge is still pretty green. What wasn't green looked brown. That is mostly going along Rt. 4.
