The shutdown is Federal Government. The state parks are run by the State of Vermont. They will not be affected.

I don't expect any problems in Vermont. Our foliage doesn't need any government money to change color. Because air travel is considered essential, it will be operating normally.

Yeah, just be glad that you weren't dumb enough to pass on a trip to wonderful Vermont and instead planned to go to something like...oh, I don't know: GETTYSBURG NATIONAL PARK!!! I knew I should have just returned to Vermont.

Have a wonderful trip!

I'm in good humor after 2 days of "foli-asms" with ctyanky and the gang of foliage fanatics. The weather has been awesome the last 2 weeks.
While we are now in an official shutdown, this government has been pretty well shutdown for a few years. As long as we keep sending the same clowns down to Washington we will have a circus down there.
As long as America keeps re-electing the same incumbunts, we deserve what we get.
VOTE DEM BUMS OUT, and get some fresh blood down there. :D

I think politicians may be the same all over the world, at least, as in my country. They love their people but they love themselves more. ^ ^

Thank you, that is serious and important thing to be concerned.

Well, what was somewhat in jest almost two weeks ago is very unfunny reality today. This morning I will be calling my hotel in Gettysburg and cancelling my reservation. Stinks for Gettysburg as I cannot go there and throw money into local coffers and stinks for me as this was my one shot at making it there this year (the 150th anniversary year). Also kills my one and only photo trip this year, which would have been my first dedicated one since prior to 2009.

My fault for choosing anything over Vermont, I guess.

Hey, Dean: Sorry to hear about this. No matter what your politics, this whole "government shutdown" is idiotic. What a bunch of childish, bickering, spoiled brats. We ALL know that if we just stopped paying Congress and the Pres this would never have even made it to the surface.

VERMONT IN OCTOBER 2015!!!!! REUNION (or in some cases, union  ). Be there!!!!

Gettysburg is a little past peak but I will see if I can get a usable shot or two. Hopefully one without one of the thousands of tour buses.

Carol: Glad you mentioned this. I almost did it and then thought I should wait until you and I agreed it was time to "let the cat out of the bag."

I will try to post an official Sticky Thread in the coming weeks, but everyone should be looking toward October 2015 (exact date to be announce) for the "GEORGE CAMP SOV Reunion" :)
