Just thought I would include this as an FYI for anyone traveling around the Bennington area this autumn or thereafter.

Ah, cool. It's been sitting basically ready to go for months now and I wondered when they would open it. :)

This is the NE portion of the bypass, it will cut several minutes off the trip for those coming from the east on Route 9 and going north on Route 7, or vice-versa.

BTW lots of early color change on the route 9 highlands already.

Hi Charles: thanks for the heads-up on the emerging color in the highlands! bm and I are looking forward to seeing you this fall as we tool around your area with you! We are hoping to take the Skyline Drive again and then some roads in your neck of the woods. I want to take the Carpenter Hill Road if possible because I've only driven it in summer and winter and fall is the most spectacular! See you soon Charles and please keep us posted on the colors! :D

I have to admit, that does allow me to by-pass Bennington on my way back down from Manchester. I won't because the fam insists I stop at Crazy Russian Girls for goodies to bring home with me and I am incapable of not stopping at the monument to try and find a photo I like but, I can see the concern.

We have been using the western portion for years. It opened just as we started going up every other weekend. Very nice.
