We are flying from California to Boston this weekend. What is the best route to take from Boston for a one day foliage trip to Vermont on October 20th this year?

PS. This site is great! Thank you for making this available.

Foliage is starting to go by up north. There are still some colorful spots. But they are predicting high winds and heavy rain the next few days. This is knock down a lot of leaves. I would guess that south east and south west will be your best spots by the 20th. I would take route 2/202, the Mohawk trail, west to I-91 north to Brattleboro,Vt. Pick up route 30 at the north end of Brattleboro. Take rt. 30 to route 35 north in Townshend. Take route 35 north through Cambridgeport,Grafton, and into Chester. In Chester turn right and go to route 103 north. At the north end of Chester Village is the Stone Village. Lots of stone buildings. Continue route 103 north to route 131 east in Proctorsville. Take route 131 to route US 5 north in Ascutney. Take route US 5 north to Windsor. Take Bridge Street on your right to see the longest covered bridge in the USA. Go through the bridge to New Hampshire. Better parking over there. You will be on route 12A. Take route 12A north to I-89. Take I-89 south to Concord,Nh. and then I-93 back to Boston. Folioage should be good in the Berkshires in Western Massachusetts. I also recommend Old Sturbridge Village in Mass..

Thanks so much for the info.

Does anyone have recommendations for restaurants along this route?

I really can't recommend a restaurant, but there will be plenty of them to choose from.

Can't speak for other areas, but at least around here, this storm has moved us from just past peak to... well.. November. :( I would suggest that anyone planning to come up this weekend lean towards activities in the valleys, left or right. Charles
