Courtmel,

The whole Kanc doesn't peak at once. It will be the highest elevations this weekend, most of the rest the following week. At the same time you are in Littleton, I will be up there in Lincoln NH Oct 4-7. In vermont North of RT 2 may be mostly gone but RT 5 should be beautiful from St. J south to bradford or so. Rts 302 from littleton to wells river VT and Montpieler should be nice. Rt 302 east through Crawford notch will be nice, except the highest elevations. Conway will probably be a little green. They seem to turn last of everyone in the North Country.

Good news is that particular week looks sunny with no high winds expected, so the leaves may linger a bit opening up the north a little bit later than usual. BTW both NH 112 (kanc) and US 302 have reopened since Irene.

Photo-op; I'm not sure what you mean about my central loop. I was up in the NEK on Sunday and routes 114,105,5a,58 and route 100 from Lowell south to Stowe are hot right now. With the exceptions of the Mack Mountain Road in Peacham, Route 12 between Morriville and Montpelier, and Route 110 from Tunbridge to East Barre. I'd stay north of the route 15/US 2 line.

I think Photo-op may be referring to my NEK Central Loop from the Great Drives sticky thread.

I found the best color in the higher elevations in that area. Routes 116 and 117 in Sugar Hill were very good. Route 302 between Littleton and Crawford Notch were good, but from the Notch to Conway the colors were early. The high elevations of route 112 are peaking. Do that road ASAP. The NEK in VT and northern NH will be the best spots. For that, take route 116 (Union St.) in Littleton to route US 2 and turn right. drive route US to Gorham and take route 16 north in Errol. In Errol turn left onto route 26 and drive through Dixville Notch to Colbrook. In Colbrook turn right and look for a road on the right withm a blue "H" sign (Hospital symbol) and turn right onto that road. This is route 145, a great ride. About 2 miles up the road there is a waterfalls. Drive Rt 145 to route 3 in Pittsburg. Here you have a choice. For the first choice you can turn right and drive route 3 up to the Third Connecticut Lake, just before the Canadian Border and then drive back to Pittsbur, go past route 145 and continue to West Stewartstown. Nice drive, good color, and maybe a moose. In West Stewartstown, cross over to canaan, Vt and drive route 114 all the way to Lyndonville and head back to Littleton. OR the second choice is to turn left in Pittsburg and drive to West Stewartstown and Canaan and drive route 114.
