Route 100/Stowe

Got into Brattleboro late Monday and took off on Route 9 on Tuesday morning. Turned off on Route 100N. The color was really good - lots of reds - and it was a beautifuol sunny day. The east side of the road was beautiful when the sun ws on it. I may have seen some of you with tripods set up taking pictures of a beautifully sunlit ridge on the east side with lots of red color late in the afternoon. Today (Wed) was rainy - off and on - but still beautiful here in Stowe. We ventured on some of the back roads and saw lots of beautiful views. Still lots of red, orange, and gold color. Today was somewhat windy, so who knows what we will see tomorrow. It is supposed to be nice, so we are heading up over Smugglers Notch to Jeffersonville and than maybe head east. We'll see how far we get. We have taken trips to Wisconsin and Michigan and around Illinois to see fall color and have always wanted to come to New England. I think pwt54 mentioned that color was fading a little near him but that someone who is not from this area will still be impressed. Dazzled is more like it. It is just breathtaking - still.

For anyone coming to Stowe, the visitor's bureau on the Main st (100) near the church gives out printed material on local hikes and driving routes. We managed to cover tours #2, 3, and 4 today. Beautiful, even in the rain.

Thank you all for your advice. This really is a vacation to remember.

Carol (the other one)
