Does anyone remember Storyland?

I think that's what it was called. I just posted on another thread about our trip to Santa's Workshop on Whiteface in NY a couple of years ago and I started thinking about my own childhood. We went to Santa's Workshop as well, but we also went to a couple of theme parks in VT. My favorite was one that I think was called Storyland. Is that still around? I'm sure my daughter would love it. I think there was also a Santa Land or something like that. We spent a lot of summer vacations with family friends in Vermont...I'm sure that's where my lifelong love affair started.

If you're talking about Story Land, that is located on Rte. 16 in Glen, NH. Santa's Village is on Rte. 2 in Jefferson, NH.

Here's a childhood memory from the Green Mountain State

When I was a youngster, the family would travel up through Vermont, and there were big signs for SEA SHELL CITY on Route 7 near Brandon. "50 miles ahead" the sign would proclaim the pleasures of the unlikeliest of Green Mountain attractions. After many signs, there would appear some dubious roadside buildings that we had to get out and visit. Suffice it to say it failed to live up to the hype, but remains a long term memory.

I understand the backlash against the billboards went a long way toward the state reigning in unfettered advertising along its roads and highways.

I'll have to ask my parents...I could have sworn there was a Story Land in Vermont that we went to. Maybe they trekked over to NH with us too!
