I will be traveling from mon 13 to wed 16 (from nyc) and could use some advice on where to go. I had planned on seeing grafton ,woodstock ;queechee stayin in woodstock, then traveling up 100 to lake willoghby, but Im afraid that by the 16th it may be way past peak by then and might be better to stay south and mid, but I heard notheast area is so beautiful, what what you advise?

At Brattleboro take exit 2 take rte 30 North through Newfane and Townsend. At Townsend take rte 35 North to Grafton. Continue north on 35 to Chester. All four of thse villages are gorgeous year round and especally so over the next two weeks. This route ids also fvery scenic. For a nice scenic drive continue north on Rte 103, which you can get right across the street from the end of 35 in the village. go 5 miles north to Rte 10 head east past us 4 miles to Rte 106 go north on 106 into the village of Perkinsville at the bottom of the hill take a lest on Upper Falls Road after one mile you'll smile Cross the bridge and take a left on the paved road this is scenic 131 follow the road through the black river valley into Cavendish, where Alexander Solzhenizen spent his exile from the USSR. at the end of 131 take a right onto 103 north which will bring you to Ludlow and junction of 100. You can take 100North to 100 A trhrough Plymouth Notch (calvin Coolidge birthplace) then take US 4 east to Woodstock.
Enjoy the ride!
As an alternative, just stay on 106 and that takes ytyou straight into Woodstock. this way takes an hour less. but be much less interesting.
------------------
Aleks & Michiko Hunter
Old Town Farm Inn
665 Vt. Generally speaking the colors won't be too good above route US4 at that time. Lake Willoughby is worth seeing even without color. Don't forget the Grafton Cheese Factory south of Grafton. Image

Ah yes cheese...
In addition to Grafton mentioned above which is excellent, check out Crowley Cheese in Mount holly. To qet there just stay on 103 and go about three miles past the Rte 100 turn just north of Ludlow. They make an unpasteurized cheddar that is absolutely divine.
grafton and Crowley really are the best orf the remaining Vermont cheesemakers.
