Taking the back roads

Hello,

Many posts have repeatedly asked to take the back roads. I am planning to buy a Jimapco when I get there but what exactly do you mean when saying take the back roads. Let's say for example I choose a city - Stowe. How do I take the back roads when entering the city? Just follow the map and go to any road and follow it down?

Regards,
Azeez

Are these non-numbered routes indicated in the Jimapco atlas? Because, I don't mind exploring the place through the back roads but need to know how to get back.

These roads have names. They are marked on the map and almost all of these roads have signposts, thanks to enhanced 911. Most of these road are dirt roads. Some like the Peacham/Danville road are paved. The roads in the Lewis Pond area are about 70% accurate because of the changes by the forest service. The intersection of Stone Dam and Eagles Nest should be a "T". Logger Branch Road is now part of Eagles Nest. North Branch Road is now 4 Mile Road. Lewis Pond Road does not go to route 105 in Wenlock. That section has been gated by the land owner.
