Foliage train rides

If anyone has experienced the Green Mountain Flyer's Limited train trip from Bellows Falls to Rutland, a nine hour trip with an hour and a half layover in Rutland, please post immediate advise, planning our itinerary which will be impacted with where to stay, etc. because this train ride is only offered October 7, 2007; a 9:00-6:00 roundtrip. Will the train venture into areas of the Vermont countryside off the beaten path and roads? How will the colors be from Bellows Falls up to Rutland on October 7th? Interested seeing areas of Vermont's unspoiled backcounrty we would not see by car. Trip to Rutland is not goal, have been to beautiful Rutland.

There are other hourly train rides from Bellows Falls to Chester. Advise if would be just as enjoyable although lots shorter than the nine hour trip to Rutland.

Not interested in the 7 hour chew chew that takes you to a chili festival in Ludlow.
