GROTON STATE FOREST on route 232!! Lots of great color in the fall and take the Owl's Head road to the parking lot and hike the 0.2 of a mile to the top. The trees in Groton are young so you don't have to strain your neck to see good color.

Opps, forgot to mention Boulder Beach at Groton State Forest. The gate will be closed so park near the gate and walk down. Less than 1/4 mile. Lots of young birches and maple trees. My favorite place to take photos in the fall.
