Any road in foliage season is a good ride, but some are much better. Here are some of the best.
Route 100 from Canada to Massachusetts.
In the north; Routes 58,118,5a,108,105, and any road in the "Northeast Kingdom". In the central part; Routes 12,110,14,232,132,302/25,and routes 17,125,73 between US7 and Rt.100. In the south; Routes 9,7a,121,35,30,and any road between routes 11 and US4.

I91 is also quite beautiful, especially for an interstate highway. Some excellent views. Also, when you get to Wells River, you should cut across into NH and take Rt 302 over into the White Mountains. They are spectacular any time of year, but even more so in the fall.
I'm not sure which state is prettier in the fall, but I like them both!
