Route from White Mtns, NH to Chester, VT?

Hello!

We're leaving Jackson, NH tomorrow to go to our next stop, Chester Vermont. I'm wondering what route might turn out to be the prettiest? Originally we were going to go North and then South, but it seems that the color is past peak in the north. Does anyone know what the color is like going along the river - either 91S in Vermont or the 10 in NH? Thanks so much for any info!
