TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE AUTUMN: An Ode to Vermont!

Twas The Night Before Autumn....................Autumn 2008 By CT

Twas the night before Autumn
And all through Vermont, the ‘Great State’
The Department of Tourism and innkeepers were praying
Please let this season be great!

Scenes of Vermont© forum posters and guests
Were all snug in their beds
While visions of orange, gold and red leaves (and maple creemees)
Danced in their heads!

Maps, guides and cameras they stacked by suitcases with care
In hopes that the moderators’ routes and Admin’s state reports
Would answer their prayers!

When all of a sudden came a crash and a clatter
I awoke from a “Lost in Vermont” dream to see what was the matter!
Alack and alas, my pile of posts, a previously neat pile
Was torn to shreds by the dog bearing one heck of a smile!

Then what to my sleepy eyes did appear
But pwt, bm and Tim with his photography gear!
“Is that really you??? From the forum I mean!!!
What shall I do without your posts in Vermont, I did scream!!!”

From their gondola they snickered, putting on quite a show!
While cracking their whips at their charges below!
Now Abby! Now ixl! Now SMS! Now MMVT!
On Wentworth! On GIC! On Andy! and CT!

Enough said of these posts! Don’t worry! Don’t fret!
Without them it will still be the best season yet!

To the top of Mt. Mansfield, let the reunion begin!
By toll road or gondola, to the summit or chin?
“Who the hell’s coming?” PWT yelled out in great earnest!
I promise I won’t mention another dam thing ‘bout my furnace!” :x

To CT he whispered, “About burstin’ that fall aroma bubble?
As soon as I sent it, I knew I was in deep trouble!
So to The Midnight Spreader, I sent him a dare
And as a result, you’ll get Fresh Vermont Country Air!”

Soon we’ll be on our way to our foliage tours
To covered bridges, waterfalls and great country stores
Mountains and ranges and overlooks galore
To festivals, to Willoughby, oh those snow geese shall soar!
With advice from the forum, we’re all set to explore!

We want to see moose! It will give us the chills!
For our Abby/Carol (you’ll get your perfect scenic) your photography thrill!
To the top of Mt. Mansfield some of us will go
Oh Mother Nature, please not yet, don’t let it S-N-O-W!

Tomorrow is Autumn! It’s finally here!
Let us toast to Vermont and the forum with Bob, in good cheer!
In brilliant leaves or on a mountain top may you find your fall glory
For cherished memories to take home to tell all your Vermont story!

Mother Nature: Open The Curtains!!!!!!!
LET THE SHOW BEGIN!!!!!!!!!!

Show us your magic
And we’ll return again and again!

As the foliage gondola passed over the full harvest moon and sailed out of sight, pwt, bm and Tim were heard in the distance exclaiming -

Happy Autumn to All and to All A Good Night!

Foliage friends: Have a safe journey and may the Foliage and Weather Gods bless you with a glorious, fall adventure into the great state of Vermont!

Thank you bm, pwt and Tim and the forum, to whom I owe all of my successful journeys!

CT :D

ctyanky I am rolling on the floor laughing. Excellent poem.

Just got back from South America trip and what a change in the air and forum. I have already started shooting fog pics on lakes. So far this fall seems to be spot on. If weather stays like this we may have an 03 on our hands.

GREAT POEM ctyanky LOL

We folks are just giddy with fall foliage fever aren't you. The pholiage phoray I took yesterday helped ease the symptoms a little.

How funny and fantastic! I'm a little late reading this poem. I've been absent...partly because I've been busy.....but mostly because I'm jealous. I was unable to make a trip to Vermont this Fall and it has made me sad. Last year was my first trip and I absolutely fell in love! I was hoping to make it an annual one however, it didn't work out this year. Maybe I can settle for every other year? I do hope you all have enjoyed a beautiful Vermont Fall!!!! :D

Take care,
Sarah Marie
