SW VT and Berkshires report

Unfortunately, it's not a good one.

Drove from Bennington to Pittsfield, MA yesterday. The color is early and what's there is poor. Lots of brown and yellow, almost no orange or red.

Hopefully it is just waiting for me to arrive on the 13th... :D

With all of the rain, surely we have to be expecting better later, no?

Frost is definitely on the way tonight, not just for the berkshires but most of inland mass, especially from the Pike north. Colors here in eastern Mass are slow this year. The swamp maples haven't even peaked yet. Hopefully the chill will move things along.

I shall happily take your foliage "leftovers"!

I thought for sure that when my friends chose mid-October for the wedding, I would be worried about being "too late" but the quality was never something I doubted. I know that I should know this but I thought the late rains and recent frosts should have placed us in line for fireworks. No?

Not so far, but it's not over yet.

Supposed to be clear and cold the next few days. We'll know by early next week if that was enough to make things "pop".

I just checked the weather forecast and Thursday, Friday and Saturday (13th through the 15th) are all show "showers". Are you frigging kidding me? Two years in a row? I feel like I am Charlie Brown, Vermont's weather god's are Lucy and the foliage is the football...

Even more importantly (after all, I have years and years of photos to go) not the weather my friends were hoping for when they envisioned their wedding in Vermont, I am sure. Anyone have suggestions for how to salvage a day of shooting the happy couple in Vermont's great outdoors when rain comes a calling?

That prediction seems to be based on models showing a tropical system moving up the coast, which our resident 'caster WXMAN mentioned earlier. It's still pretty far out though, so I wouldn't panic quite yet...

Every weather report I've seen and heard today says this weekend will be super.

"Panic" is my default setting when it comes to my travels. That way I have "worst case" handled and all else is upside. :D

Seriously, the last two years I have gotten bad 10 day forecasts and they have held up. So, my concern is that I go three-for-three...

I will (secretly) still hope for the best. Though as a rainy day in Vermont is still preferable to a sunny day nearly anywhere else (spiritually if not photographically, that is).
