Re: Foliage Update
A few more thoughts on water levels, based on my experiences today. I spent the first 2/3 of the day way up north, in the Kennebec Valley of Maine. All the rivers and brooks (etc.) that I saw up there seemed to be in good shape. The back end of the day was spent in Evans Notch--much farther south (...

Re: Foliage Update
Kerry,
If you get a chance, can you comment on the river and waterfall levels? With the drought I imagine they are pretty low. Every time I check the USGS river level maps, They are mostly showing 10-25%.

Re: Nichols Ledge
I've only been there once. Last year the color was so late I had to leave before it really turned nice. I'm going to try again this year, probably on the 8th; but that may change. From the posts I've seen so far it sounds like peak won't be running as late as last year. I sure hope not. I posted som...

Re: Photos from my trip
Yes, I'll be in New England from 10/02 - 10/12. I'll probably be in New Hampshire early and Vermont the last week. I definitely want to do Nichol's Ledge again. Early morning is perfect, before the wind picks up and ruins the reflections. This spot is fairly easy to get to. Only about a 15 minute hi...

Re: Lewis Pond Overlook Access
I don't believe you can access it from Lewis Pond Rd. I'm pretty sure the road is (or at least was) blocked before the Nulhegan River. You might have to take Henshaw Rd to Four Mile Rd. I would certainly attempt Lewis Pond Rd first, but have another plan just in case.

Re: Photos from my trip
I intended to try Nichols Ledge again this year. But the color was so late, I had to leave before it really got going. I was hoping to take some time lapse as the fog cleared and revealed the ponds. I did the short hike up to Owl's Head which was also very green. That day it really rained, I stopped...

Thank you all for the nice compliments.
Carol,
I believe the photo you are referring to was taken in Adamant.
I'll try to add descriptions soon.

Photos from my trip
Wanted to share some of the photos from my trip. A lot of the photos are from areas other than Vermont. This was a road trip for me. Unfortunately having to leave Vermont, just as the colors were getting good. I still have a lot of photos to put up and there are no descriptions yet, but I'm sure mos...

Re: Super Blood Moon Eclipse/Harvest Moon Sept 27 and 28 - what an event! Where will you be to witness?
Thank you. The moon should be low enough on the horizon of the West coast to possibly get some structure in the shot. On the East coast it's going to be very high in the sky. I can imagine a shot of the harvest moon with church steeple in the foreground taken with a long lens from about a mile away ...

Do you have any ideas for Milky Way sites near Barton?

Re: Photographing the milky way
The light pollution is from Okeechobee and Lake Placid. They are both about 25-30 miles South of this photo. No hills or mountains in Florida, maybe a tree line would have helped to block some of it. I don't have a smart phone, but I can see where those apps would be really useful. Can you get Auror...

Re: The Great Fall Get Together
Hi Al,
I'm going to try to make it to Vermont again this year. I posted a question for you in the photography forum. I hope I get a chance to meet a few of you this year. Have you selected any potential sites for the Barton area earlier in the week? Will you be staying into the night at Noyes pond?

Couple new pics of my own and a question. What apps or websites do you use for tracking/predicting clear sky in Vermont? I found this. http://www.ssd.noaa.gov/goes/east/ne/flash-wv.html and this http://www.accuweather.com/en/us/northeast-region/satellite-wv http://dartfrogsforsale.weebly.com/uploads...

Re: Nichol's Pond from the Ledge
I may actually be returning to Vermont again this year. We had such a great time last year. Seemed every time we turned a corner there was another "Oh WOW!" moment. This hike was fairly easy actually. I think it took us about 20 minutes. It was a bit muddy right at the start, but someone has placed ...

Really nice photos. Love the sun stars and the milky way. About what time was the Sleepy Hollow photo on Cloudland? Do you have one of the Jenne Farm as well?
