Re: St Johnsbury Area Updates

Tim, that's an excellent visual illustration of the point. And imagine if the perspective shown in the panorama was a wide angle with a traditional (in 35 mm terms) 3:2 frame. Not incidentally...man, did you ever catch some terrific conditions in that telephoto shot, between the snow, the color and ...

Re: St Johnsbury Area Updates

Thanks Kerry. I use my 70-200 A LOT in my landscape photography. I like how it can compress distances between objects. Additionally I like to isolate smaller portions of the broader landscape as your eyes would if you focused on that one thing (e.g. the church in Peacham). I think you and I are rel...

Re: St Johnsbury Area Updates

I've long stated my belief that telephoto lenses are badly underused in scenic photography. I really like what you did here, Tim. Kudos.

Re: New England Images: An Appetizer

Awesome photos! My hubby is still looking for that elusive moose... Thanks! Re the moose...head to Maine (where, legend has it, there's a moose on every corner). Seriously, in parts of five days there in late September I saw a moose twice--big bull moose both times--and I really wasn't even trying ...

New England Images: An Appetizer

For anyone who may be interested, I've posted my inaugural blog entry covering my time in New England this fall, with a more or less random assortment of images from Vermont, Maine and New Hampshire (as I've just begun postprocessing). I'll begin a chronological narrative with my next post, probably...

Re: Photos from last week in the NEK

Thank you very much Kerry. I hope you made it home from your whirlwind tour safe and sound. I did, thanks. I left NH on Monday morning, stayed overnight in western NY that night and returned to Indianapolis early Tuesday evening. It took me a day to recover, but I was pretty much back to normal by ...

Thanks

Tomorrow is my last full day in New England; on Monday morning I begin the long slog of a two-day drive back to the Midwest. I've been in the region since I arrived in Rumford Center, Maine on Sept. 25. It's been a long, but terrific photo trip and I visited countless sites in Maine, Vermont and New...

Re: Nichols Ledge

I went up to Nichols Ledge when I was in VT--Oct. 3, I think. Color was a bit pre-peak at that point; good--plenty of reds--but still a decent amount of green. I would imagine the area around Nichols Pond is at peak by now. It's quite a view from up there; one of the most attractive overlooks I've v...

Re: Day trips from Stowe

The Whites are absolutely worth checking out, but I wouldn't dawdle. Every area I've checked--the Kanc, Franconia Notch (haven't been there in a few days), Crawford Notch, Evans Notch, Bear Notch, Pinkston Notch were at peak when I last checked (Evans yesterday; Bear, Crawford, Pinkston and the east...
