Re: Fall 2006
I am also trying to plan for next year. We didn't get to go this year and now I think maybe that was a good thing, although I wanted to so bad! We have been two years in the past, 2002 and 2004. I don't think we saw peak foliage either time but what I saw was good enough for me. We will probably inc...

Re: Going Crazy!
Steve, Did you look at the pictures Joni posted of the White Mountains area? Maybe you could get someone here to give you a good route that could include parts of central Vermont east to NH. I think it is only about 90 miles from Stowe to Lincoln NH where the Kangamangus Highway starts. I am certain...

Re: Vermont Foliage Pictures - Columbus Day Weekend - NEK
Thanks Jonie for sharing your pics with those of us who couldn't be there. I wanted to go so bad but maybe next year! My favorite picture was the one with the covered bridge. Do you remember which bridge that is?

Fire Towers??
Good morning, everyone. I love this site and the wealth of info I can get here. We are not able to come to Vermont and NH this year. We have been two years and I would come every year if I could! So I am already planning routes for next year. Last year we drove the road near Lancaster, NH that goes ...

Re: Peak-Seeking Leaf Peepers - Get Thee to Route 9!
Your pictures are gorgeous! Please post as many as you can as the season progresses. We cannot make the trip to Vermont and NH that I wanted to this year. So I will just have to get my fix looking at all the pictures you guys post. I am already planning out routes for a trip next year and this is a ...

Re: We had a great time!
Since you brought it up I will confess! We stayed two days in Northern NH near Pittsburg because I had read about Moose Alley. Is that where you would have sent me? We drove along a 10 mile stretch late in the afternoon just before sunset and again the next morning early and still didn't see one. Bu...

We had a great time!
We returned Saturday from our 10 day trip to VT, NH and Maine. We put nearly 2000 miles on the rental car, many of them in Vermont. My biggest disappointment was that we didn't see a moose! Bummer! Anyway, I just wanted to thank everyone for all the great advice. We saw a few bare trees but overall ...

Re: Burlington-Shelburne Construction Warning
Thanks bm. I just changed our lodging to Colchester to get us out of the Shelburne area. Instead of the country store, I think we will try to see those snow geese. Thanks for that info. I would have never known about that if it wasn't for this great forum! So now I am looking at the map(I don't have...

Re: Burlington-Shelburne Construction Warning
Oh great! Just where we will be at Shelburne. Thanks for the heads up. How can we get to Hwy 2 that goes through the Lake Champlain Islands? Looking at the map, I see a road that goes east from Shelburne Falls to 116 and then if I go north I could get on 2A. Will that work? We were also going to vis...

This time last year
Around the first part of October 2003, there was a report that Smuggler's Notch was closed because of snow. What are the chances for that to happen again in the next week or so? Also, when you talk about Smuggler's Notch, do you mean Hwy 108? One more thing, what is the difference in a gap road and ...

Re: Hazen's Notch update
Thanks for that info. Are you saying you would forget Rt 100 all the way north of 15 this coming weekend? And what's your advice concerning the NEK this weekend? I was thinking about the Burke Mountain Toll Road then. Tomorrow(Tuesday) is my last day to have internet access so I won't get the update...
