Hi Carol - I always enjoy seeing your photos in the fall! Hopefully you'll get some good ones on your reunion trip this year! Andy - the later peak foliage was one reason for my decision to stick with Vermont this year. It's about a 4.5 hour drive to Bar Harbor for me, and it would be pushing it to ...

I'm sure others will chime in with responses as well, but you will have no trouble finding fall color that weekend in Vermont. For the last several years, I have visited over Columbus Day weekend, and I have based myself in White River Junction. I find the advantage to staying there is that you have...

I've visited the Eastern Townships many times, and it's a beautiful area! I would recommend stopping at the visitor center next to Lake Memphremagog (in Magog). They have a variety of pamphlets that include driving directions and maps for scenic drives around the area. I would agree that North Hatle...

Color in Manchester this weekend?
Hi all, I have enjoyed the last two weekends in Northern and Central VT and have one night booked in Bennington this coming weekend, hoping to visit the Manchester area for the first time. However, I'm sort of wondering at this point if it is worth the drive up for such a short time (3+ hour drive)....

Thanks Carol! Russell Pond is a gem I discovered back in August when I asked at the hotel where a good area to look for moose would be. It's a couple of miles off Rte. 93 at Tripoli Road in Woodstock, NH. You literally drive through the campground to the pond. Over the summer, there were kayaks line...

Oct. 4-5 Foliage Photos
Thanks to many on this board for the helpful advice on some new spots for photos this past weekend. The color is incredible this year! I don't think I've ever seen so much red and bright orange! These photos don't really do it justice, but will give you a sample of the color to be found "up north" i...

You could drive up Rte. 93 to just south of Concord, pick up Rte. 89, and head north to White River Junction, VT. From there, Woodstock and Queechee, Vermont are easily accessible, as is Hanover, New Hampshire. It is probably about 1.5 to 2 hours drive from Manchester to Woodstock, VT. Another thing...
