Re: To central vermont from Maryland
What BM said about Vermont "looking" small but taking a long time to get there. Last year, my buddy and I looked a map, judged the mileage and figured how long it would take us. We were uniformly off by close to a 50% factor. By the end of the week, we had a new term: "Vermont Miles."

Re: Foliage and water
PWT, would you say this Lewis Pond shot (the second one) is "car friendly"? or only for high ground clearance vehicles?

Re: A good head
Tim: Another thought came to mind on this topic. One of my "pet peeves" is that when you get your shot all framed up and you want to switch from Landscape to Portrait and v/v, there does not seem to be a head out there that doesn't change things, plus you have to go through all that horizon adjustme...

Pierre: I looked at your gallery. Very nice work. We have just started a Vermont Photography Forum in the Scenes of Vermont Forums. You might want to visit us there -- and please do post some of your work.
Also, if you are willing, share with us the locations for your photos of Vermont.

Thanks you guys. If I get there and get anything, I'll report back -- and post a shot or two.

Re: Shelburne - Charlotte - Hinesburg - Monkton Report
Hey, BM: I have itineraries mapped out everywhere--it seems--EXCEPT in Addison County. I am looking to get a couple of classic shots the village/church nestled in the mountains is one. A "farm" vista is another. Any suggestions in that area, in case it turns out to be the only place where there are ...

Re: Sunrise photography spots near Montpelier?
One question that comes to mind is what type of subject you are looking for. If it is a Vermont Village Scene, there are certain alternatives. If you want more of a Nature Scene, there are others. To the immediate North East of Montpelier is the Groton State Forest. There are a couple of possiblitie...

Re: jpeg sizes
Abby: When you are doing the "tweaking" (color, contrast, crop, etc.), you must be in a software photo editing program. There will be an image size dialog there somewhere. You should be able to change the H x W pixel dimension. Just follow Heather's comments and it shouldn't be a problem. That's rea...

A Vision for this Forum
One of the things I would personally like to see in this forum is to develop a resource of photo scenic locations. Part of what motivates this is the resources which have become a bit dated like the wwww.sevenhillscameraclub.com website and Arnold Kaplan's Book. I know there are a number of folks ou...

Re: jpeg sizes
Heather: Thanks for the clarification on this. My explanation might be why the "blind" should not lead the "blind." :D I remember now reading and learning this. Abby: Heather's method--and explanation--is much simpler to do and easy to understand than mine. In addition to being partly wrong on the p...

Re: A good head
Like all "gear" discussions, you will find a variety and difference of opinion out there about "heads." This was just a topic of discussion on www.naturphotographers.net, which is a forum I frequent, recently and it was interesting to hear the different ...

Re: Excellent Idea
Heather: Thanks for the article on GPS use. I read it with interest. However, it looks too cumbersome for my purposes, especially when my manufacturer is supposed to have an adaptor out that will put the GPS information right into the EXIF data as I shoot. Now, if I can only find one <g> My problem ...

GIC - yes the MC-35 has been on the Nikon USA site for a number of years (since the D2H came out). Advertising it and manufacturing it are another thing, though :) . I have been trying to buy one for a year. The major mail order houses have had it on backorder since before the D200 shipped. There ar...

Re: Foliage and water
For those not already familiar with this site, this is a pretty good compendium of waterfalls of the Northeast. It generally gives directions, whether the falls are private or public, and some information about the shot. Some have example photos. http://www.northeastwaterfalls.com./

Re: Foliage and water
Thanks for the suggestion. I saw a "reflection" photo of this pond last year and it was one of the only shots that showed some good color that I saw last season. I plan to be there on either Oct 7 or 8. I wasn't sure whether it was an afternoon shot or a morning shot. This information helps. This is...
