Re: Photographing the milky way
Her is one from the back of my parents home.
You can nearly make out the milky way.
18mm, F4, 22 secs, 3200 ISO . It was a clear night but windy.

Re: Photographing the milky way
This photo was actually pretty overexposed. I have a Canon Rebel T3 with the standard kit lens. I used F5.6, 18 mm, 6400 iso and 30 seconds. The T3 is a crop sensor and as far as I can tell there is no way to lock up the mirror. I'm sure someone could do a nice job on a clear night with a full frame...

Re: Our Trip
A couple days (2,3,4) are not filled in yet. The files are on my computer now, I'll upload them as soon as I get a chance.

Re: Photographing the milky way
It was cloudy the night I was able to try the Jericho Mill. I was surprised by the amount of traffic at 10:00 PM, and there was construction at the site. It looks like they are preparing a viewing platform off the road. Which is good cause there is no sidewalk on the bridge, you are within a few fee...

Our Trip
Sorry I wasn't able to post many reports during our trip. Seemed we could hardly stop for a minute to catch our breath. So much to see and experience. My son and I united with family we barely know and learned of our heritage going back to times before the revolution. How lucky they are to live in s...

Nichol's Pond from the Ledge
My Son Kurtis and I hiked to Nichol's Ledge yesterday morning. Views from there will be spectacular today with the beautiful sunshine. It was a bit foggy when we made it up there. All the lakes were covered in fog, but it burned off within an hour. It was mostly overcast, by the time the fog cleared...

Re: 10/1 - Bean Pond and Crystal Lake looking great
Just returned from there this afternoon as well. The leaves are dropping fast. Started the day at Cabot, Coles Pond and Stannard Mountain Rd, then Wheeler Pond, Crystal Lake, Barton, Burton Hill and finally Eden and Johnson. My first season, but it seems there will only be nice pockets of color in t...

So, how will no frosts for the next 10 days affect foliage?

Re: Most stunning tree tunnels
Check out Water Andric Rd on google maps earth view SE of Danville. It's little more than a snowmobile trail. I don't know how they were able to get a google map car down this trail without damaging the camera. https://www.google.com/maps/@44.4028644,-72.0865474,3a,75y,63.67h,78.53t/data=!3m4!1e1!3m...

Re: BEST SCENIC VIEWS/MUST SEE SPOTS!
I'm a sucker for Grist Mills. Is there a website that lists them for Vermont? I know of the ones in Weston, Jericho, Guildhall, Vergennes, 108 just South of Jeffersonville. Any others that are scenic?

Re: Photographing the milky way
I tried a few different white balance options and tungsten was definitely the best. One thing I hadn't considered was FOV at the Red Mill. It looks to be only 120' or so from the road. I'm not sure how tall it is, maybe 60 feet from the base. That would only leave me with about 40% of sky above the ...

Absolutely, we intend to post photos during our trip. I'm not sure what day we'll make it there, hopefully we can time peak.
