Re: Tomorrow's (9/28) drive for critique
That sounds like a solid plan. I was out in the hills south of St Johnsbury this afternoon and the color is good. The higher you go the better. Tomorrow morning should be good for pond mist as well. Hopefully it doesn't turn into full blown fog for you. If you find it is too foggy at Ricker Pond or ...

Re: First Trip To Vermont! (itenerary help)
Thank RIMHfire and PWT54. Based on the replies so far here's my revised itenerary: 9/30 Arrive boston, drive right up I-93 and do the Kanc (it seems 10/3 might be late for the kanc) 10/1 NEK: morning do the NEK Central loop (from the great drives thread), afternoon do a Peacham/Danville/Cabot/Groto...

Re: Post Updates of Road Closures and Alternate Routes
Most of Northern VT escaped the major devistation that you are seeing on the national news outlets. Almost every road is open there are no problems with accessing this part of Vermont. I-91 and all of the roads in this part of the state are intact save for a few isolated rural roads. That said, I fe...

Kirby Mtn Road/Severence Hill
Severence Hill between Route 2 in East St Johnsbury and Red Village in Lyndon is completely paved and easily passible by car. This is a road I frequently take when going to NH from Lyndonville. Off of Severence Hill is Willey Farm Rd which turns into North Kirby Road. This is a nice drive over the a...

It is hard to say right now, at least until this storm moves out of here. The low hanging clouds are making it difficult to see what is happening to the leaves on the higher elevation mountainsides. I have a feeling that the Peacham area is going to be closest to peaking this weekend since it seemed...

There are a lot of nice little towns along both sides of the CT River coming up Route 5 that are often overlooked by the masses travelling on the adjecent interstate in the hills above the valley. Bellows Falls, Bradford and Wells River are nice little towns the have good potential for pictures. The...

Great Shots! I concur with MrBumps' report. the colors are out and looking great. The Peacham area is a bit behind other parts of the NEK but that should make it about perfect for next weekend. Let's see if I can add a few pics... Mt. Hor, Lake Willoughby (South Beach) on Sunday: http://www.foliage-...

My hunch is that there will still be lots of color late next week in the areas we wanna see (St. Johnsbury southward). But I need someone to reassure me that you think so too! The frost(s) early last week really accelerated the color change. The St J area is in peak right now but it should hold on ...

There are some special foliage trains that run this time of year that typically have a more specific schedule. There is one that usually starts at the St Johnsbury Welcome Center and heads south toward Barnet. I haven't hear if it is running this year. Here is a link to check out for some other trai...

Aspen, If you're referring to the photos that come up on Google maps, that's sort of "automatic". Those are photos other people have taken and loaded to Google maps. But, you're welcome anyway. :) I hope this helps people find some spots and photos they wouldn't have otherwise. And, I hope nobody g...
