Tomorrow's (9/28) drive for critique
Planning a quick day trip up to Groton State Forest tomorrow. Head out from Marblehead around 4-5am. Up 91 to 302W then 232N. Try to get mist off the water at Ricker pond, Lake Groton and Kettle Pond. Continue up 232 to Owl's head and be there for road opening at 9 or 10am. From there explore Peacha...

Re: pwt's second foliage report
Andy
I spoke with the VT Forestry service and it seems that the road is gated beginning on Columbus day. So I think I'm going to shoot for a morning sunrise tomorrow!

Re: pwt's second foliage report
Do you think Owl's Head would be a good choice for Wednesday 9/28? Was thinking of heading up their for the vista and then Peacham pond.
Any good waterfalls to hit in that area?
Thanks

Re: When to go....
Thanks for the posts everyone! I am about 3 hours drive away (north shore of MA) from most spots and am fortunate to have Wednesdays off. I do typically ask for a 1 week vacation though and am leaning toward the week before Columbus day this year. Just wanted to see if those of you with far more vis...

When to go....
I've been looking at my photos taken in 08, 09 and last year trying to decide when to take a week vacation and drive up to VT and NH. Seems that I've always gone the week of Columbus day which falls on 10/10 this year. Last year felt like a dud because of the hot, dry summer. This year, between the ...

Ques: Rt 232 status and few pix from Stowe on Oct 3
Trying to decide where to go tomorrow. Torn between Rt 232 in Groton leading up to Joes Pond then Ducharme hill road. Anyone up there in past few days to comment on color? Alternative would be the lakes region in NH (gasp!) Here are a few shots from my drive on Oct 3rd up to Stowe: 1 It pays to wake...

Back from the trip
So the color was okay overall. I don't think I was early but was not wowed by the colors out there on this drive.
Best stop was Bingham falls - it is exactly 6.4 miles up 108 from Stowe - on the right; tiny turn off (enough for 3 cars).
Will post pix when get a chance to go through them

Appreciate the thoughts on my drive
I didn't realize Bingham was tough to find - mind shedding some light on where to park/get off 108?
I'll post back with pix when I return
Thanks again

Worth driving up to VT tomorrow (9/23)?
Just got approved to this board and was hoping for a bit of advice after much lurking and thinking. I have a day off tomorrow and another on 10/6. I was hoping colors would be settling in and I could make a day trip (up from Salem, MA) to photograph spots. Went through the entire 'favorites' thread ...
