Re: Two of My Favorite VT Foliage Festivals on Tap For This Autumn!

Hi Pats fan, nice to see you back on the forum. Yes, the Danville Autumn on the Green is excellent. It is about the same size as Newfane's festival but not as big as Burke. It is pretty compact on the town green separated by rows, Newfane is more spread out. It is mostly supported by local vendors t...

Re: Two of My Favorite VT Foliage Festivals on Tap For This Autumn!

Hi Tim, actually quite a few. The Stowe Foliage Arts Festival, Rutland Art in the Park, Dummerston Apple Pie Festival, Townshend Fall Festival, Danville Autumn on the Green and some of the towns (Peacham, Groton, Cabot) of the NEK Fall Festival are all on. I can't seem to find all of 7 towns on the ...

Re: Visitor from California - help needed to plan foliage viewing starting from NEK then going south

Hi Prabal! This is a great question, thank you for posting it. In central Vermont, I would recommend the Waitsfield/Warren area in the Mad River Valley. I have stayed there for years before I transitioned further north into the NEK. I absolutely loved it! There is sooooo much to be said about the MR...

Re: And So it Begins - Swamp Maples

These are great! I'm psyched! :D I can't wait to get up to VT this weekend to the Chester Fair (even tho it will be green, I'm sure we will see some color change along 91 especially at the higher elevations and around the Connecticut River near Deefield. Thanks for posting your swamp maples, it sure...

Re: Swamp Maples Showing Bright Reds

Hi Bob, I never heard of the Bethlehem Flea Market but will check it out. If it is the same time as the Chester Fall Festival in Vermont next weekend I may not be able to go. If you have a moment, can you give me some road numbers or street names for the drives thru Woodbury and Oxford? The NH guys ...

Hi Colorado Mom! So good to see you here but I am sorry you will not be in Vermont again. Maybe next year? We have to meet at Farm Hillstead Brewery! Everytime I see a plaid fall coat I think of you and how we missed each other two years ago at the brewery. We've had some cool night and mornings but...

Swamp Maples Showing Bright Reds

Hi all, took some back roads in northern CT today, and the swamp maples are popping out with strong color. One was so bright, I had to remind myself to keep my eyes on the road! I suddenly became euphoric! I couldn't stop smiling. The excitement is building! I think I just might start putting ...

Re: Visitor from California - help needed to plan foliage viewing starting from NEK then going south

Hi Prabal, welcome to the forum! Before we start giving you advice, do you have a time period in mind at all as to when you would like to arrive? Also, securing lodging this late during peak season is going to be a bit hard to book with many places requiring 2 - 3 nights of confirmation. Mid week so...

Re: Happy First Day of Meteorological Fall! 9/1/21

Hi Janice! Nice to see you back here. Sorry you won't be in Vermont again, it is the same for a lot of people. Although, I did hear that tourism is off the roof in Vermont for fall. Everything seems to have been booked up long ago. Next year will be your year! I'm fortunate to live 2 hours from the ...

Re: Happy First Day of Meteorological Fall! 9/1/21

Oh my gosh Bob! I have stayed at the West Hill House B&B and it is a top 10 lodging! I know the suite you have mentioned. The breakfasts are out of this world! The owners are amazing and it is located on a hilltop and you can walk down the dirt road that parallels the inn. I hope to stay there again...

Two of My Favorite VT Foliage Festivals on Tap For This Autumn!

I so missed my foliage festivals in 2020 as they were all cancelled due to the pandemic. So this year, I am planning on driving up for these two fairs for a day trip. I love the Chester Fall Festival and the surrounding area with a stop at the Vermont Country Store in Rockingham of course! We end th...

Hi Kevin, I'm so sorry to hear about your Dad passing away. My heart breaks for you as I am familiar with parental loss. I am sure some great housing will appear for you in Enfield. Vermont will be there for you next year if you don't make it up this season. Rest assured, you still have beautiful Co...

Hello SOV Foliage Fanatics! Today is the first day of meteorological fall and I couldn't be more excited! :D This Labor Day weekend in New England will be our first real preview of autumn and I can't wait to wake up to the cool, dry crisp air that will be streaming in! Re: Vermont lifts all covid restrictions

Best news ever! :D "Vermont reached its full reopening about two weeks ahead of schedule. The governor had initially said he planned for a full reopening on July 4." Loved his comment, “The people who deserve the most credit are everyday Vermonters,” he said. “You stuck together even when you were p...
