It seems like the high wind warnings are clusted in the southern part of the state.

So I woke up at 4:45 this morning, praying that the St. Johnsbury had changed from yesterday...yesterday, it had predicted winds in excess of 35 mph. Prayer works. Today's forecast: calm winds getting up to 7 mph later in the day. Of course, lots of rain, but I feared the high winds. The knot in my ...

Will need updates after tomorrow's bad weather...

Thursday's weather is gonna be horrible in Vermont and potentially bad for foliage. So can I count on the wonderful folks here to report in after the storm passes and tell us if the foliage survived the winds?

I noticed that the St. Johnsbury area is expecting 30+ mph winds. I almost threw up.

Guys: For late next week and the holiday weekend, do you still expect high pressure to be over VT and with it, sunny skies?

WXMAN: Your info is so very much appreciated. I'm gonna be in the St. Johnsbury area over the holiday weekend. It's funny...accuweather is showing cloudy with some rain for that time frame. I'm rooting for the high pressure!

Well, my wife and I are arriving on Thursday next week and staying until the 11th. Until today, I thought our timing was perfect. Now, I see these reports of rapid color. My hunch is that there will still be lots of color late next week in the areas we wanna see (St. Johnsbury southward). But I need...

Favorite little stores

My wife and I really love snooping around the quaint little stores of Vermont. Two of my favorites are the Weston Village Store and the little store in "downtown" Peacham.

But we're open for suggestions. Let me about your favorites and why you love 'em.

We may not get to Weston this trip, so can anyone recommend a good place to get fudge in the NEK or Connecticut River Valley?

Anyone a VT railroad buff?

I plan to drive Route 5 from White River Junction to St. Johnsbury one weekday afternoon. Anyone know how busy that parallel railroad is along Hwy 5? I'd love to get some shots with a train in the picture.

So, is this shaping up as a "normal" season as far as the timing of the color progression goes? That's the conclusion I'm getting.

Welcome! Since I haven't heard anything to indicate that this year's color will be early or late, I'm going to assume that the season's timing will be normal. That being the case, the dates you mentioned will probably be perfect for visiting the NEK. As for specific places, just use this forum threa...

Oh, man. Gotta add this to my "places to visit" list. And, it's minutes away from St. Johnsbury (where we're staying).

Keep the wonderful stuff coming, folks. It helps us out-of-staters a lot!
