Re: So Mother Nature Has Thrown Us A Curve Ball...
Tent caterpillar damage has been spotty in Lamoille County. Elmore Mountain on the Morrisville side took a hit, but the Elmore side was untouched. I drove route 12 from Montpelier to Morrisville on Sunday. The colors were still early but widespread. I haven't been able to get out much because my 97 ...

Re: Lewis Pond Overlook Directions by Phil (pwt)
Because of personal obligations I have not been able to ride the back roads like I use to. So I haven't been able to ride those roads this year. In the 20 years I've been riding those roads, I have not had any trouble driving them. These roads were railroad beds in the old days and then converted to...

Re: Fall trip. Need help to fix my routes
The only downside on your tour is the lodging in the Hardwick/Greensboro area. There isn't much in that area. Stowe, Vt will be your best bet.
Conway, NH might be a problem, also. The Fryeburg Fair will be starting and lodging might be scarce. Your tour itself looks great.

Re: Waterville/Belvidere caterpillar impacts and general routes question
The caterpillars did not hit that area very much. Just one spot on Butternut Mountain can be seen. You will find that the colors as you approach Montgomery will still be early. This is normal. The highlands in this area will have better color. Routes 58 through Hazen's Notch and 242 to Jay Peak will...

Re: So Mother Nature Has Thrown Us A Curve Ball...
I went on a ride up around the NEK early this week. Colors on Rt 100 from Hyde Park to Lowell were early but nice. The stressed out trees had bright color. I drove from Lowell to Lake Willoughby and then down to Lyndonville. Color change was just starting. I then took the South Wheelock/Stannard Mou...

Colors here on route 100 in Hyde Park are looking great. Should be peaking this weekend. The Northeast Kingdom should be the same.

Route 12 report
Yesterday I headed down to Killington for the Foliage Fanatic Lunch. Great food and conversation. I took route 100 from Morrisville to Killington. Colors are still early, but improving quickly. Route 100 between Warren and Hancock are nearing peak. Colors are still early below Hancock. Route 100 is ...

Re: Where to Visit
Normally, I would say you will be late for peak color, but foliage season is running a little late this year. Color in the highlands might be late and route 100 may not be great above route US 4. If you have problems finding color in the Ludlow area, head west on route 103. That will put you in the ...

The weatherfolks on TV and radio all say the same thing. No rain until Monday night.

Re: SEPTEMBER 30 - COLOR REPORT (KILLNGTON AREA)
Colorchaser, color change is a little late this year. Color should be good in the middle of the state, say route US 2 south to route US 4. Color north of Route US 2 will still be strong but a little past peak. Color south of route US 4 will be nearing peak. Route 100 is the exception. It turns a lit...

Loafer89. We saw good early color on route 100 north of Hancock. Lots of bright firecrackers next to the road.

Re: St. Johnsbury and north
I was up near Island Pond on Monday. Colors were early but coming along. Things have been moving fast the last couple of days. Don't expect peak color anywhere in VT. The early turning stressed out trees are showing peak colors, so you will find some firecrackers and hotspots up there.

Pholiage Report Phrom Phrantic Phil
We Foliage Fanatics got together at Moss Glens Falls about noon today. They had been out shooting photos early this morning. We all agreed that the foliage had come a long way since this weekend. Colors are looking nice, but not bright yet. But the early turning stressed trees are peaking. I call a ...

Re: CT and PWT find surprising color on 232 in the Groton State Forest!!!
Groton State Forest has the best color I've seen so far. The early turning stressed out trees are peaking. The rest of the trees have color, but are not eye popping yet. Peacham is not as advanced as Groton, but should be nice this weekend. Color is looking stronger today on route 100 north of Route...
