Re: Questions about Owls Head and Kettle Pond

I'm still a bit fuzzy on how I get to Owl's Head. On googlemaps, it looks like Lanesboro Rd. would be the road to turn on off 232. Someone clear this up for me.

Questions about Owls Head and Kettle Pond

Question about the hike from the Owl's Head parking lot to the "summit" where Kettle Pond can be imaged. Is that a reasonably easy hike? My wife and I will be 67 by October and are in reasonable shape for our age. We both do a lot of walking. Should we be able to handle the hike? I've heard it is a ...

Google Street View?

I'm a foliage nut. But I'm a long way off...live in Texas. Been to Vermont 9 times and will make it 10 this October. Since I'm so far away, I have to rely on my own previous trip experiences and/or this forum to scout out great foliage or scenes. Lately, I've tried using Google StreetView to try and...

Re: Killington Color 9/27

And finally, was there a convenient place to pull off Rte. 100 in order to get a view of the pond?

Re: Waitsfield/Montpelier/Marshfield/Cabot/Calais 9/27/13 P

My wife, sister-in-law, and I are flying in on Thursday - with Friday, Saturday, and Sunday reserved for seeing the sights. From what everyone is saying, our timing is very good and the foliage is average to above-average.

I love it!

Re: PWT's first report

I would say - don't panic. In Vermont, you're an hour's drive from most places in the state. And, even if the foliage is past peak, there are places that hang on with their beautiful foliage.

Re: PWT's first report

Amy: If you find that Vermont has "No Vacancy", I would suggest checking out New Hampshire...there are several almost-new Holiday Inn Express motels in various small towns. I've stayed in several of them and the service/quality is top-notch. And, you can drive to Vermont in less than an hour. We're ...

Re: MAPS, GUIDES AND BOOKS FOR VERMONT

Yeah, well, I'm tight as shrink-wrap about everything...except when it has to do with a trip to Vermont. What can I say? I'm in love with the place. Have been since my first foliage trip in 1982.

Re: MAPS, GUIDES AND BOOKS FOR VERMONT

I have the DeLorme and the Jimapco. I dislike the former because they use a green background on the maps that renders the roads and names almost imperceptible. Somewhere in my house is the Jimapco (can't remember where I put it), but I can't remember the reason I didn't use it on our last trip two y...
