Re: Logan Airport to Burlington

As always, PWT's suggestions are right on the money. I will throw one other suggestion for you in case you would like to go over a mountain pass during your trip up. In Waitsfield, make a left onto 17 West (you can certainly go past here and visit the covered bridge in town at Bridge Street first; j...

Re: Thank you all...

Ravi,

The shots that you identify as Mt. Tyson near Ludlow look an awful lot like the back of the skatium and Bragg Hill in Waitsfield. Great shots!! If that's where they are, you got much better color on your camera than I did. What do you shoot with?

Re: If you are in north/central VT tomorrow, you will LOVE t

The name of the road coming down the App Gap towards Waitsfield off of 17 is Number Nine Hill Road. Alternatively, take 17 all the way to the bottom in Waitsfield. Make a left onto 100 and a VERY quick left (basically two lefts in a row) onto Bragg Hill Road and go up the hill from the other side. T...

Re: Biking on Oct 9th

Albany to Stowe should probably take about 3.5 hours. Maybe you can shorten that a bit by taking 22a, but I think it's more like 3-3.5 hours (it takes 3 hours to get to Mad River Valley from Albany metro).

Waterbury Reservoir

has anyone checked out the Waterbury Reservoir yet? Curious as to progression. I have not visited there but have seen some wonderful pictures in years past. Thanks.

Re: More fun with dirt roads!

Clarification...Route 16 is at the end of Noyestar Road, not Coles Pond, which as Charles (ixl) has said, can be reached from the other side off of McDowell Rd.

Re: More fun with dirt roads!

You can also get to Coles Pond Road from the other side. Traveling Route 15 E into Walden, there is a sharp right turn to 15. At that turn is a left onto Noyestar Road. This road is mostly dirt and EVENTUALLY connects to Rte. 16 (not too far from Greensboro Bend if I'm not mistaken). Anyway, that's ...

Re: Oct. 6-7 too late for Peak color in Stowe?

I'll guess Monkton...I have cousins in Hinesburg, so I know the area a bit...but there are lots of little towns in that area...now that I think of it, Monkton might be Chittenden...whatever, I get the idea. Looks to be an interesting week ahead...things really seemed to slow down. Good news for me! ...

Re: Burke Mtn Road -- highly recommended (one pic)

Nice pic Charles--

Looks like a lot of green still to change going down the hillside...is that all evergreen, or is there still some hope for those of us coming next weekend to venture to the lower parts of NEK?

Re: Hazen's Notch Road

Hi Sharan-- Thanks for the kind words. Hard to find a bad place in Vt. As far as Hazen's Notch on the 8th...pwt54, ixl, or bm will have better first-hand info than me during this week, since they'll be in-state. However, based on Pierre's wonderful pic from the 1st, I think that Hazen's Notch will b...

Re: Hazen's Notch Road

Hi Charles-- Did come one March for some later season skiing at Mad River Glen. Caught sugaring season...that was cool. Sugar on snow with pickle and cider donut was quite the treat. But...we did a trip to the Trapp Family Lodge via Moscow Road, and let me tell you, the trusty Civic was NOT pleased ...

Re: Hazen's Notch Road

That is REALLY nice...never done the Hazen's Notch Road. Probably will be well past peak by next weekend (that's when my trip is). Weather looks rather benign for a good chunk of the next week. Hoping colors hold in the Mad River Valley and vicinity. Daniel P.S. Sharan--so glad to hear that you trie...
