Re: Some California "Color"

Yeah, I could photo graph the San Francisco/Yosemite/Napa triangle for the rest of my life and never do all I would like to.

I need to pick a coast and be near at least one of my photographic loves.

Great photos.

You guys are gonna make me do the trek up for that shot of Burton Hill Road. Well done!

Re: VERMONT PONDS AND LAKES

Is Grout Pond accessible this year given the damage on Kelly Stand??? (or am i not correctly remembering the location....) It IS a beautiful pond! I agree that Kelly Stand (which would be a nice short drive for someone like be based out of Bennington/Manchester) would be preferrable but, I do think...

Re: Some California "Color"

That is my second favorite place in the world to photograph is San Francisco. And man, did you hit the weather lottery! I only had one day of good weather last time (out of a whole week I was there) but that was the day of my excursion to Yosemite, so I cannot complain too much. Such a wonderful cit...

Hopefully it is just waiting for me to arrive on the 13th... :D

With all of the rain, surely we have to be expecting better later, no?

That is on my list for this year. Excited to make that drive. Always meant to and never got around to it.

We have 30 mph winds here (Columbus, Ohio) right now so I hope these stay away from the beautiful NE.

Re: Forecast for Columbus Day weekend

I'll be in Southern VT three days after Columbus Day so I am trying to stay optimistic that I won't be greeted by sticks when I get there. From what you are saying, there is an outside chance that I will get my wish.

Re: Burlington Oct. 18 - 23

I would say PA should offer you the best hedge. This year they are forecasting northern PA hitting peak the first week in Oct, the central portion hitting peak around the 15th and Lancaster/Adams/York area not hitting peak until the third week of October. I mention those counties in particular as th...

Re: Planning my first possible vermont foliage trip

Andy, you are right, it is even better with the sugarhouse. Balances the picture even better and really completes the front layer. No idea why but I also find that the road brings and additional path for the eye in the photo.

I think I am going to have to buy a copy of that one for myself.

Re: Planning my first possible vermont foliage trip

That cloud just makes a really cool division in the picture. That scene is even more amazing for how little post prod was needed.

Even the small details in that shot are cool. I like that the barn door is so well worn.

Did you just happen upon that one or was there some prior knowledge?

Re: Planning my first possible vermont foliage trip

Andy, way to prove to new arrivals that there is a lot of talent on display in this forum! Man, great shot. Love the layer after layer of that shot. Just pulls you in and keeps you transfixed as you go from near to far.

Was there a lot of work on that one in post-prod?

Re: Glass Question

I just acquired the Tamron f2.8 70-200 myself and can sympathize on the weight issue. I had a conference in Southern California last week and wanted to bring it and just that lens and a laptop made my backpack feel like I was stealing gold bars. Anything short of maximum zoom and the lens does make ...

Charles,

Really sorry to hear about the changes that the storm wrought.

I too will be following your updates with a mix of anticipation and nerves as I will not be arriving until the 13th.

Thank you very much.

Re: My fall foliage vacation

Charles, Have you ever shot in the Catskills? Not to go too far afield but since you were kind enough to offer the idea of a Hudson Valley trip I thought I would just inquire. I had planned to shoot there this year but a job change and a baby in early 2012 means my vacations are a bit more limited f...
