Re: Can we get some Vermont photography going again?
Those are some really nice shots. I particularly like the image with the fuzzy dandelions in the foreground and the clouds in the sky. Nothing says the dawn of summer like fuzzy dandelions. I hope you had a long lens to photograph that bear! Generally black bears are not aggressive unless they are r...

Re: SOV 2015 Geore Camp Reunion
For any of you wanting to photograph the Milky Way with us, there is good news. The sun sets at 6:26 PM on October 3. While the moon will be about 60% visible, it doesn't rise until 10:50 PM that night, so the sky will be moonless until then. Astronomical twilight ends at 8:03 PM. That means that th...

Re: Planning First Fall Foliage Trip 2015
Phil (PWT) is the expert on this forum so you can rely on his advice. That said, I personally like Stowe. It is relatively close to the Northeast Kingdom and highway 100 from Waterbury and points south. It does have some traffic issues, especially south of Stowe to Interstate 89 but Ben and Jerry's ...

Re: Can we get some Vermont photography going again?
Very nice Aurora photos. I heard that they would be good and that they might reach us as far south as Minneapolis but nothing for us.
The color in your photos is interesting. Anytime I've seen and photographed the lights, they have always been green.

Re: Critique #1 2015
I think cropping your photo would do a disservice to it. I really like it too and I think the reflection of all the clouds makes the photo. While there are some basic axioms in photography, there are exceptions. While the shot is centered both vertically and horizontally, it works! If you want to ex...

Re: Can we get some Vermont photography going again?
As has already been said, many of us are not from Vermont. Me? I'm from Minnesota. The one thing we have in common is our love for Vermont, especially during the fall foliage season. I have some of my favorite Vermont photos on my website. You can see them here: http://www.goldimagesphoto.com/Portfo...

Re: Photos Mesa Verde, Durango trip 2014
Janice, you have made some wonderful photos and the places you visited make me want to go there again. We love Ouray. We've also taken the Durango to Silverton train. It appears that you enjoyed it as much as we did. We've just returned from your neck of the woods (sort of). We were in Moab and Monu...

Re: Frost Advisory out for the northern tiers of VT!
Last year we had a discussion about acorns and their ability to predict the weather for the upcoming winter. Last year we had a bumper crop of acorns here in Minnesota. We also had a very long, cold, snowy winter that we thought would never end, just like the previous year. This fall I've noticed th...

Re: Photographing the milky way
The T3 doesn't have the mirror lockup feature but it does have live view. It has the same effect. The mirror locks up so the live view works. If you will be shooting a large number of shots, creating star trails, for example, just plug your video cable into the camera's video output slot. The camera...

Re: Photographing the milky way
Even though it was cloudy, I can still see some stars! Nice. My concern about this spot for nightscape photography was the potential for a lot of ambient light. That is indeed the case; the building is really lit up. Even the trees in the foreground are brightly lit. I'm interested in the technical ...

KC, you do have some very nice photos. A couple of the links are broken so we can't see everything but I would very much like to.

CT: The sky will be dark enough two hours after sunset. Sunset in Burlington tonight is at 6:14 PM. The sky will be good by 8:15. That shouldn't be too late for you.

Carol, the 2015 reunion is on my calendar. I plan to be there. CT will find a way to be there too. Andy told me he plans to be there too. I'm looking forward to seeing all of my Forum friends and meeting some new ones.
For anyone who is interested, I'll do a night sky workshop.
