VT Rt. 4 Report
I drove back from western PA today, coming across the NY Thruway - Rt. 90, thru Ballston Spa, Fort Ann, Whitehall, NY via NY Rt 4 south then crossed over to VT on Rt. 4 east. Most color I saw around Rutland was a bit muted, more russet tones. I did see one beautiful fully turned bright yellow tree w...

Re: Woodstock to Manchester NH
Some info here for Manchester, VT: https://www.manchestervermont.com/fall-fun-in-manchester/ There is the Mt. Equinox Skyline Drive. Also, lots of nice color at the Mt. Equinox golf course, too. I've not been there this year, but in past years. I think 7A and Rt 7 have some nice color along them, ty...

Re: Start of Foliage season muted by rain
I've been in PA the last two weeks and am heading back to NH tomorrow. I'll be passing through VT and will report what I see. Western PA is getting early color, some trees just about fully turned, good color. Surprised to see color this early here. When I came over on the 14th, I saw a lot of green ...

Re: Newfane Heritage Festival, route 30, route 11 color update – Saturday, 10/9/21
CT, The mountains surrounding Manchester have color though it was a bit foggy that day, so hard to say how the color was. I stopped at the golf course and took one pic. There just wasn't much to shoot there this year. My favorite trees at that course were already bare. So, a bit of a mixed bag. I di...

I went up route 7 yesterday and while there was some color still a lot of green. Maybe 50% at Mt. Tabor and northward. Killington is peak right now, very nice. A couple of mountains had a lot of leaf drop, but the rest were bright and colorful. There was an art festival yesterday and today in Rutlan...

Re: Mount Snow
I drove to go up Mt. Equinox yesterday. When I left Lebanon we had wonderful skies like a water color painting, I was hoping for the same there, but the whole mountain top was in fog or cloud, so I didn't go up. The whole day ended up being a bust. I think today is shaping up to be more of the same....

Rt 58 - Oct 8
I had quite the busy day today, left at 7:50 am and didn't get home until 6:30 pm. First stop was Groton State Park, still some nice color there. Then I drove to the summit of Burke Mountain. The view from there was definitely peak. Gorgeous. Burke Hollow Road had some nice color. Stopped by Lake Wi...

Argh! I skipped that one today. Drove right by it. I saw that road and said, oh, I remember going down that before and then didn't go down it. At that point I was just wanting to get home.

CT, I don't know any hikes in Southern VT as I am in the Upper Valley area, so I don't get down there too often.

Re: State of color
CT, Look at the black-dotted lines on this map: https://www.alltrails.com/explore/trail/us/vermont/robert-frost-interpretive-trail?mobileMap=false&ref=sidebar-static-map This might be the water tower trails. Not sure. I saw a small bridge that went some where, close by the road less traveled poem th...

Re: Visitor from California - help needed to plan foliage viewing starting from NEK then going south
A friend of mine sent me some pics from Waitsfield a few days back an there was a lot of brown leaves. Can speak for the whole town, but at least were my friend was it wasn't looking too hot this year. I agree with CT about Barnard and Pomfret. A good road to try in the vicinity is Gold Coast Rd. I'...

Re: Artist's Bluff, Franconia Notch Nh
Me, too! That was on my to do list. The last I read about the White Mountains was that anything south of Dixville Notch is about 40%. That was as of Friday. So, I'll bet next week or so it should be good.
