Re: IR photography

Kerry, Thank you! I know that the filter route isn'the ideal but, until I see if this is something I enjoy, I am reluctant to convert a camera. That said, if I like this, that will definitely be the route due to all that you mentioned. Fortunately, my move to faster glass has put most of my lenses a...

IR photography

All, Hello! I was driving up I71 (here in Ohio) and I passed an abandoned house with a large tree next to it. Being a autumnerd, I thought, "I have to swing by when the leaves change on that tree." Then, I started to frame the shot in my head and I realized that a brightly colored tree would offer o...

You are really nailing the night skies! I love that.

CT, thank you!

I will continue to be positive and think "dry trails" rather than "dry stream beds".

Thank you again and be safe.

Re: RAGING WATERS!!! Moss Glen, Texas Falls, Rising Streams!

I am still at home. I am planning to be up next week during the week. There had been more rain forecast for right before I arrive (which is what I was excited about) but, now all of the forecasts show clear weather from now until Friday of next week. Looks like my excitement over strong flows was pr...

Re: All rain has been removed from next week's forecast!

Weather channel is showing Friday (9th) at 40% (afternoon) and Saturday at 60%. This has been gradually creeping forward, I assume, as models for the impact of Joaquin change.

I am very much hoping that your sources are correct as I want to get a full day on Friday before heading home.

Colorchaser,

In what part of Vermont will you be based?

It looks like folks are running the length and breadth of the state so, someone will have you covered.

Re: RAGING WATERS!!! Moss Glen, Texas Falls, Rising Streams!

This is perfect!

I will shoot landscapes during the golden hours and venture into the woods to shoot waterfalls during the mid-day!

I hope everyone is having a great and safe visit.

Re: Of all things, now there is a tropical storm to deal with.

CT,

I was thinking the same thing about the waterfalls. This time of year they can be less than inspiring but, this rain will really set them off. Even a little color in the leaves and a full bore waterfall can make for a good shot.

Please be careful as there are flood warnings!

I can see both sides of this but, I am leaning toward a degree of agreement with the author. That said, we are talking about degrees. This is obviously photoshopped: http://www.anvari.org/db/cols/Photoshopped_Animals/Photoshopped_Animal_07.jpg But, if I claimed, either as an outright lie or a lie of...

Re: Gear on the move

Al, I agree...normally. Unfortunately, I will not be able to scout the locations as I usually would. I am scouting this one via the Photographer's Ephemeris. This is due to my short schedule in Vermont, this year. There is a body of water in the valley so, I am hoping for morning fog and plan to sho...

Re: A Vermont Sense of Adventure and Seeking the Big Picture ....

Janice, I agree about that sense of discovery. I do miss when my touring of Vermont was with a fly rod in my hand rather than with a viewfinder to my eye. Don't get me wrong, I love photography but, too often, I am left with the disappointment that my shot doesn't capture the beauty of the moment as...
