I am back from my New England business/vacation trip and I've posted some of my photos on my website at www.goldimagesphoto.com . While the color in the Champlain Valley of Vermont was beautiful, (I started this thread with that comment) my travels took me to Montpelier, Concord and Hartford before ...

While the colors around Burlington were great, the trip from Montpelier to Concord were disappointing. Many leaves had fallen and there were a lot of bare trees. I suspect the only good color will be in the Champlain Valley. We did take some detours from I89. Stopped in Sharon but the church there w...

WOW!

I just arrived in Burlington by air. The color on the mountains around Burlington was spectacular. I was awed as I looked out the airplane window. The color I saw all over was as good as the best color I saw last year and I really had to search for it. I've been in Vermont in October in each of the ...

Andy, some very nice photos. I especially liked the balloons but the scenics were really nice too. I leave for Vermont tomorrow morning. I hope the color hangs on for a few more days. Courtmel: Just click on the www button at the bottom of Andy's post for his site. The button will take you there. Th...

pwt, I don't understand your reference to slow processing time. My 40D will handle 6 frames per second in RAW and up to 17 images before the buffer is full. Even my old 10D will shoot several images before the the buffer is full.

If you like waterfalls, do stop at Bingham. I'm looking at a 12x18 photo of it hanging on my wall right now. The falls isn't marked on the road so if there isn't anybody selling something in the pullout it isn't the easiest place to find but it is well worth the effort.

Charles, I watched your slide show and I really liked it. After watching it through once, I went back and looked at each slide one at a time and read your comments. Very Nice! Like you, I am getting to Vermont a little late this year. I will have little time for Photography, after all I am on a busi...

Carol, try the links now. Apparently the period at the end of the sentence was incorporated into the link. I've fixed it. Actually I didn't write about shooting in RAW, only about the photographer choosing the settings instead of letting the camera do it. I shoot in RAW only because it preserves all...

Andy, like you, I only shoot in RAW and for the same reasons. I've written a photo tip on my website that starts: "Your camera is as dumb as a rock…so why are you letting it choose your exposure settings? " Here's the link to the article: http://goldimagesphoto.com/shutterspeed.html Your are right. ...

Those who think that making adjustments to a digital photo is somehow altering the photo fail to think that when they take their film into Walmart, that the developing machines there have standard adjustments that enhance the photo, including color saturation and sharpening. Most people would be ver...

I will be visiting Vermont on my annual business trip but I won't have much time for photography. I arrive on the 13th late in the afternoon. I've got a meeting in Montpelier the next morning. I have the rest of the day to shoot photos on my way to Concord, NH where I have a meeting the following mo...

RE: Groton SF / Ricker Pond

Andy, my favorite shot at Ricker Pond was early in the morning. It was 38 degrees and my fingers and toes were freezing but the fog rising of the pond was fantastic. I almost missed the steam rising from the Wells River. Don't forget to look downstream even if you are captivated by the fog over the ...

I use Photomatix for HDR and find it does a nice job of expanding the dynamic range of photos. Here are a couple of examples from my website. http://goldimagesphoto.com/nationalparks/np0801.html http://goldimagesphoto.com/nationalparks/index.html Often HDR is used for the artsy effect, but it can re...

Yesterday I was in Cavendish, Ludlow and Bridgewater where there was very good color. The best I saw was along 100A between the Calvin Coolidge State Park and the intersection of Hwy 4. The mountainside there was beautiful.
