Re: Trip with toddler in October

Sorry for monopolizing this thread. Here's another link. There are a number of "farm" sights out there.

Re: Trip with toddler in October

Try: http://www.vermont.com/farms.asp I think that Backroad Explorer hit the nail on the head...your daughter is so young that, although she may enjoy seeing a few cows and lambs, she'll be just as happy to spend some time at a park with you. There are many opportunities to chase a ball on a green, ...

Re: should I cancel?

I can't imagine that there won't be good color somewhere over Columbus Day Weekend, HOWEVER... even if there weren't any leaves to look at, there would still be enough to do, and enough charm and beauty to make you choke up at the wonder of it! There may be some rainy days, or days when the clouds h...

Re: NY state

New York State is lovely also. Are you travelling around the Finger Lakes, or do you intend to go to the Adirondacks? If you are staying in the Finger Lake region, Route 20 is a quite picturesque...atleast from Cazenovia to Skaneateles. The foliage is excellent around Tully...lots of reds, yellows &...

Re: Help please... for 0ct 10th for an aussie!!!

If you stay in White River Junction, you can take advantage of the free shuttle bus service (www.AdvanceTransit.com) that runs from Hanover, New Hampshire (the home of Dartmouth College) to various other villages in the area. There are several different routes, so you could go from White River Junct...

Re: Travelling from Niagara to Montepellier

I guess the question is...how are you getting from Niagara Falls to Montpellier? It is a very long drive...about a day's worth. You could travel through New York state to Vermont a couple of ways after you pass through Rome on the NYS Thruway. One way...through the Adirondacks, would put you up Nort...

Re: need your advice P-l-e-a-s-e !!!

If you don't have your plane tickets yet, I would check out the round trip tickets to either Burlington, VT or Manchester, NH (I think Manchester usually has better rates & connections)rather than Boston. You will probably have to make one connection somewhere, but what you will save in driving time...

Re: need your advice P-l-e-a-s-e !!!

Here are a couple of questions back: 1. Are you flying into and out of Manchester, NH, Boston, NYC, or Burlington,VT? 2. Do you have only 4 days for the entire trip? If so, with the drive time to- and from- the airport factored in...IMHO, the trip to Acadia would be "pushing" it. 3. What do you mean...

Re: White River Junction

Hmmm. If you are staying in White River Junction, and have only a bicycle for transportation, be aware of the free shuttle busses that run to Hanover, NH and back. That should open up your horizons a bit. You can get the routes & times by going to www.AdvanceTransit.com. If you get to Hanover, cross...

Re: Oct 9 to 14, '05

Forgive me if I am misreading the post above... but many people who do not participate in mountainous winter sports do not know that the Gondolas that are mentioned here are enclosed ski lifts which convey people to the tops of mountains. There are a lot of people who think that they are boats such ...

Speed Limits

Are the town policemen as diligent about giving tickets to leaf peepers as they are the rest of the year? Speed limits drop as you enter certain towns, and speed traps seem to be set up about two feet past the signs. My brother-in-law got a ticket as he entered a town, drove three blocks to the end ...

Re: Prettiest way from Maine to VT ??

Again, I'm relaying second-hand information here, but my daughter (who lives in the Kennebunkport area--that's on the Coast, South of Portland) said that the leaves are already changing there, but she drove to Woodstock, Vermont last weekend and was surprised that ,"everything was so green there, an...

Re: Trip to VT & NH 10/5-10/7

I have stayed at the Grist Mill Inn...twice. The innkeepers Peter and Carol are great. Peter is a marvelous storyteller and a great breakfast cook! The Kendron Valley, where the inn is situated, is gorgeous (horse country) and is worth a lingering look around. You will have to share a bathroom with ...
