Re: Posting photos here

As far as I know, you still should be able to post images here. The following is an excerpt from the manual for board's software: Showing images in posts Adding an image to a post phpBB BBCode incorporates a tag for including images in your posts. Two very important things to remember when using thi...

State foliage report for October 14th, 2015

OCTOBER 14, 2015 All regions of Vermont are now showing fabulous fall foliage, with many locations at peak color. Most northeastern locations are at peak and color will soon be moving beyond, with great viewing still to be had. In northwestern Vermont, forester Matt Leonard reports that the northern...

Re: Suggestions for this Friday

Was in Peacham yesterday, and it was good for the barn shot, but the rest of the area was not as far progressed as north of St. Johnnsbury.. The best color I saw yesterday was route 5 from Barton to Burke, but at this point my cards were full. See my Peacham video from yesterday here: http://www.vid...

State Foliage Report issued on October 7th, 2015

OCTOBER 7, 2015 This year’s curiously gradual onset of Vermont’s fall color continues but recent rains and lower temperatures have quickened it significantly. The World’s Best Foliage is happening all over Vermont. Orleans County Forester, Jared Nunery, reports that much of northeastern Vermont is a...

Re: Stowe Church Photo Location?

Oh, it's there...here's a picture I took in 2011. See the little fence posts in the foreground...that is the manure pit! Of course it may have been filled in...I haven't been there in a while.

Re: Stowe Church Photo Location?

Some of the pictures of the Stowe church are taken from private property. I know of at least one like this. Here are two that are free. If you take the mountain road from downtown Stowe, look to your right and you will see the church. You will also see some businesses with parking lots. Some of them...

Re: Suggestion for driving routes on Oct 17

My advise is to stick to central and southern Vermont around that date. I fear Stowe will be well past peak by October 17th. I'd plan on Woodstock, Quechee, Killington, Weston, Manchester, Londonnderry, Dover, the Deerfield Valley. Look for the waterfall behind the theater in Weston. Maybe someone e...

Re: Bad foliage year???

This definitely not a bad foliage year, but it is running about two weeks late. Northeastern VT which always leads the color is only now just coming on. There's been very little leaf fall so far, and if the weather cooperates there will be at least two to three weeks of color viewing in Vermont

Re: Jay Peak color

Yes, one would expect Jay Peak to be ahead of other areas in the NEK. Also went to Craftsbury and Greensboro. These can be very colorful areas but they are not there yet. If the weather holds, should be worthwhile next weekend especially that dirt road from Lowell to Montgomery!

Jay Peak color

Drove around the Jay Peak area on Sunday, as well as Montgomery and over to Lowell via Hazen's Notch. Jay and Montgomery are still not at high color although there are some color spots. Sadly, the tram at Jay Peak is not operating and won't be running until sometime in November. Here is a look at th...

Looks good! Quite surprising to see the color here...looks like what parts of the NEK looked like about a week ago. It's high color now around the Island Pond area. See my latest movie

Color Progression recorded in Morgan, VT

Every day, since September 12th, I have been going to the same spot near my home to take a picture of the evolving color. The subsequent slide show, which I am still adding to, can be seen here:

State Foliage Report issued on September 30th, 2015

State Tourism Report just released this morning September, 30th. With the continued spell of warm and dry weather, color development has continued gradually throughout Vermont. Best colors continue to be in the northeast, where state foresters are reporting 30-40% of peak colors, dominated by yellow...

Re: Wow! Watched the Super Blood Harvest Moon rise over the mountain!

Our second foliage movie of the 2015 season... https://vimeo.com/140606501 We found some color in Norton (September 27th). It was another gorgeous sunny day. Not a cloud in the sky. From our foliage team reckoning, we estimate the high color in Vermont's Northeast Kingdom is about a week away and pe...
