Fantastic shots! Looks like you had some decent color in Acadia. I never seem to get lucky when I go up thre in the fall! Don't you love those crimson blueberry bushes? Love the Jordan Pond shot!

CT, I think the first thing I would do is find some books of basic photography. Get a good understanding of "exposure". Learn how the shutter speed, f-stop, and ISO setting relate to, and effect your exposure. You will begin to understand that you will want a high shutter speed to stop action, or a ...

I have a real hard time with horizon lines myself. I always have a bubble level in my hot shoe now! I don't know how many times I have composed an image in my view finder, thinking it was "level", only to look up at the bubble level, and see that I am "crooked". I highly recommend using them. You ca...

Hi Richard, Excellent shots as always from you! I wrote to you on another post that's probably buried here somewhere.....but I'm not sure if you ever saw it.......so I will say it again (sorry to repeat if you already read it) but anyways, I have been a fan of your work ever since I stumbled upon y...

Thanks for the comments on the shots! CT: The shot of the village in the distance with the fog, and church steeple is Peacham. It's from a hill on the "other" side of the town from which most people shoot. It's a morning shot. There was so much haze that morning that I couldn't get the Depth of Fiel...

Some Autumn 2009 shots

I was hoping to be greated with a blanket of snow this morning, and then head out to search for some last pockets of color, mixed with snow. Instead I woke up at 5AM to a bare lawn and a sky full of stars! So I think I am done with my Autumn shots for this year. Here is a link to my favorites of the...

Yes, I don't have a map handy, but I think the road is called Warren Mountain Road on the Roxbury side (from 12A), and then it's called Roxbury Mountain Road on the Warren side (beginning in East Warren)!

I cycle 12 and 12a regularly. I like 12A the best. It's a bit longer, but a little more scenic. When you go through Roxbury, you can take a side detour up Roxbury Gap if you have the time. Also, when you get to Northfield, take a ride up Turkey Hill Road for some great panoramic views.

You can drive to the Dam, and just above the Dam is Little River State Park. Not sure if the park is open this time of year, but you can get access to the reservoir from inside the park. I believe they have a boat launch there. The road up to the dam is off Route 2 in Waterbury. There is also access...

Turkey Hill - Northfield, VT

If any of you are still out looking for color in the next couple of days, I can recommend Turkey Hill Road in Northfield, VT. I was up there this morning a bit after sunrise, and there is still some nice color up there. The nice thing about Turkey Hill, is the best light doesn't hit until about 45 m...
