Yep, things are progressing nicely. Tonight's cold (possible frost in places) should really get it rolling.

BTW thank you to the moderator for putting this in its own thread. I have a pet peave about gumming up informational sticky threads with extra banter and I went and did some myself without thinking about it

Exactly the place I was referring too. Awsome shots! This spot should be good for both sunrise and for late afternoon. But not too late as the shadows will creep in here quickly on the East side of the mtn. I would get there no later than 4:15. If it is clear enough. Mount Washington is on the horiz...

10/2 driving up to NEK (Lyndonville area) 10/3 NEK (Lyndonville area) 10/4 NEK (Lyndonville area) 10/5 NEK (Lyndonville area) or possibly Stowe or Machester area if I find a good place to stay 10/6 driving home I'd be happy to meet for a sunrise shoot. Peacham or Owl's Head are nice spots within "c...

NEK - stressed trees have touches of good color at high and low elevations (seems to be more streesed trees than normal). The hillsides are just starting to get the hint of color emerging from behind the green (you have to look really close). Cooler weather next week may start to accelerate this pro...

My feeling is that this was a very good season here in the NEK. The reds and oranges were paticularly vivid. However, I could have done with a few more blue sky days. The constant cloudyness became a bit of a drag and limits the type of pictures you can take. I rank this year a 7 out of 10. Last yea...

The leaves are still looking very good here. Hopefully the storm that moves through on Saturday has mild wind. The color on the 6th should still be excellent.

Local Knowledge tip: If you don't have a laptop to bring with you and you are somewhere near East Burke, Bailey's and Burke (the courty store across from the gas station) has a computer with free access to the internet.

I actually feel that a few evergreens thrown into the mix provide contrast to the bright foliage which adds to the beauty.

Don't lose hope! As others have said, although sun is nice, the diffuse light of cloudy days actually makes the colors seem more brilliant. I took quite a few pictures during cloudy days last year since the light is so muted in the middle of the day. Typically pictures taken between 10:00 and 2:00 h...

I work in St Johnsbury and I'll try to keep this thread up to date with the status of the foliage. Right now St J is just coming into peak with outlying areas already at peak. A lot can happen in a week that can change the status of the leaves. There should still be good color but the crowns may hav...
