pwt54's report is correct. The frost the other night really kicked the color change into high gear. Every morning on the way to work I'm amazed at how the colors are that much brighter than they were the day before. This weekend/early next week is definitely going be the arrival of the peak color. H...

The back way to Plainfield from Barre along Windywood Rd has great views to the west that include Camel's Hump. This is a very nice sunset drive. Look for the intersection with aptley named Sunset Dr for the best spots.

If you are in the NEK and want foliage and the sunrise/set: Sunrise - I would recommend Bobbin Mill Rd in Lunenburg. Excellent views to the East into the White Mtns of New Hampshire. Alternate site = Somewhere near the intersection of Kirby Mtn Rd and Ranney Hill Rd in Kirby. Sunset - The top of Bur...

This was taken in St. Johnsbury yesterday. I didn't have time to do any processing on it. At the rate the colors are coming out, this weekend will be a pretty good time to view the leaves in the NEK.

I happened to see it too, but just the last 10 seconds of it. From Spaceweather.com: SATURDAY NIGHT LIGHT SHOW: The phones started ringing around 7:30 pm EDT on Saturday night, Sept. 19th. All along the US Atlantic seaboard, police stations and news desks received reports of strange lights in the sk...

Abby wants to hike to the (gasp) nude beach, then we can figure which tour we want to take to Island Pond. Don't worry, this time of year even the most hardy nude beach utilizers are forced into wearing clothing  As far as a route to Island Pond from Lake Willoughby, I would take either Hinton...

Glad to share the knowledge :) The morning will provide the best views of Vermont and the Green Mtns. The afternoon/evening yields the best White Mtn viewing so don't be afraid to begin and end the day with a trip up Burke. Here is a pic looking across Victory Bog to NH's Presidential range from nea...

Re: VT Auto Toll Road Info for fall: 4 Mountains

4. Burke Mountain Toll Road I couldn’t find any current information on the toll road for fall, but here is their website to keep an eye on. I understand the views at the top are fabulous and there is a fire tower to climb as well. http://www.skiburke.com/ Burke's toll road is $4 per car. It is pave...

The report is pretty accurate according to what I'm seeing here around Lyndonville and St Johnsbury. Luckily, it is early in the season and most leaves are still well attached to the trees. Therefore, they won't get blown off by the strong winds that are forecast for the next 24 hours. Nothing is wo...
