Milky Way over Colton Pond

The moon is getting brighter so capturing the Milky Way is a challenge. I was able to get just a bit of it last night over Colton Pond in Killington - also captured some star reflections!

Re: October 3rd color - Killington/Ludlow/Plymouth area

the upper elevations (the mountain itself) is definitely at peak now. the rest of the area has some peak color with other areas approaching peak. I think it will look good here for at least another week - but I can tell more tomorrow when I see it in daylight! We left at 5:30 AM to go to the NEK and...

NEK - October 4 - Seeing is believing!!

Had a great day with Abby (Carol) shooting in the NEK. The colors there are absolutely stunning -bright, vibrant peak colors with very little leaf drop. Here are just a few of what I captured!! https://photos.smugmug.com/VERMONT-2016/i-RZdqWPB/0/M/6Q2A3307-M.jpg https://photos.smugmug.com/VERMONT-20...

October 3rd color - Killington/Ludlow/Plymouth area

The Sun made an appearance today - so did the clouds and several passing showers! Color around/near Killington is coming on very strong. The upper mountain is definitely near peak. The surrounding areas (route 4, route 100, 100A, River Road) have some excellent color - lots of bright reds, oranges, ...

Re: Ricker Pond/Noyes (Seyon) Pond - GROTON

HAHAHA Deaner..... the canoe/kayak shot was pure luck. As I arrived to the location I saw him and rushed to capture him in that location! Was glad that it came out even if the kayak is not in perfect focus :-)

Ricker Pond/Noyes (Seyon) Pond - GROTON

The skies remain overcast and flat but I wanted to check out the color in the Groton Forest area. Stopped briefly on Turkey Hill Road so we didn't get to Groton until 5 pm - route 302 was very nice with some areas of Peak Color. Ricker Pond and Noyes Pond are both absolutely beautiful even with grey...

Killington and surrounding area - colors are coming!

Really nice color continues to emerge in Killington and the surrounding areas. Some photos to share what things look like here: Colton Pond (September 29th) - the sunset colors lasted about 3 minutes before fading to gray! https://photos.smugmug.com/VERMONT-2016/i-p3w3zrc/0/M/6Q2A1851-M.jpg https://...

Killington Color - September 29

We arrived in Killington last night. The color here is just beginning although it looks very promising. Some trees are changing, others are still quite green but we certainly have color and the trees look pretty good. https://photos.smugmug.com/VERMONT-2016/i-kGDztrW/0/M/6Q2A1834-M.jpg https://photo...

Re: Recommendations for early Oct

I agree with the idea of not getting too focused on Route 100. It IS a lovely drive but the best photo spots in my opinion are on the "back roads" and small towns/villages. The "back roads" in VT are very easy to navigate with almost any car so i'd follow the guidance of NEK, Abby and Admin as they ...

Re: Lewis Pond Overlook Access

I've been once - followed Phil and CT while Phil was driving. I don't remember it taking more than an hour to drive in (from the "main" road) and we made a few stops along the way :-) . What type of vehicle you need really depends on the current conditions of the road. I had a CRV when we made the d...
