Re: So Mother Nature Has Thrown Us A Curve Ball...

Hi Loafer: I think Phil reiterated your sentiments exactly today on the way up to Lewis Pond and a different route coming back. The strange thing is that so many trees were still full but yes, looked frazzled or "cooked" as you have stated. We saw a lot of areas that looked like they had &...

Re: Mad River Glen's Scenic Foliage Single Chair Lift Rides

Hello! Today I headed straight for Mad River Glen upon my arrival in Waitsfield. Had a super relaxing ride up the mountain on this spectacular autumn day in Vermont. I closed my eyes most of the way up and let that strong sunshine cover me from head to toe. After driving a couple of hours, this ride...

ROUTE 100: Londonderry to Waitsfield

I finally arrived in Waitsfield today around 1:30 after a two hour drive up from Londonderry. It was a lovely, relaxing trip with hardly any traffic either way. Except for a two load logging truck and one tractor carrying hay bales , I felt like I had the road entirely to myself. Had the music on an...

Dorset: Dorset Quarry, Dorset Hollow and Hollow Loop

Hello again! Another fun-filled day in Manchester and Dorset! Due to the unexpected showers that entered the state and continued until 1:00, we had to cancel our zip line/lift ride at Bromley, but were able to check off quite a few events on the itin! My friend came from Burlington at 10:30 and off ...

The Color is Coming! My Fantasic First Day in VT!

I'm an optimist and I must say that southern VT, albeit mostly green, and from what I saw traveling north on 100 thru Dover, Stratton, Wardsboro, is going to have potentially amazing colors by Columbus Day Weekend. Even before that, in the highlands on route 9 approaching Wilmington from Hogback, th...

Tim (NEK): that picture is one of my favorites of your collection of outstanding photos. Wow. The best one of Peacham I've ever seen to date. Thanks for posting it here. Are you going to be out shooting the moonrise and where did you choose? CT

Re: Full Harvest Moon 2017- Will you be in VT to watch it rise over the mountains?

Thanks for the information Ed. Two great nights to relax by the harvest moon! It is so enchanting! Last year I drove up to Common Road to watch the moonrise but it was sooooo dark up there and I started hearing noises in the woods so I scooted back to my inn! I'll watch it from the porch this time. ...

Ed: I'm planning on going to the Peacham Fall Festival Thursday morning but could meet you in Cabot at the trailhead if you are around there. We can think about it at Lewis Pond. I'm riding in Fayston Wednesday a.m. and am toast after I get off the horse after a few hours so will not be able to hike...

Folks! Don't forget the Full Harvest Moonrise in Vermont on October 5th!!! I'm going to sit on my porch at the inn and watch it rise over Common Road in Waitsfield. It's a totally special experience to see it when you are on vacation in Vermont. The weather is going to be amazing, enjoy! :D
